AC fan wouldn't start!

I was breathing some life into the rig after a long winter and noticed that when I started the AC the fan didn't come on. I removed the intake cover and reached up in the unit (after disconnecting the power) and felt for the fan. It was very stiff but after a turn or two loosend up and felt free as it should be. Something to watch for. This is only the second winter for the unit.

I had the same problem on my 2004 Mountaineer.Took it in to a dealer and they sent for a new fan motor from Dometic. It was a problem with some of the fan motors. Mine did the same twice. Works great now.

I had the same promblem this week. The compressor worked but the blower fan would not. I took the cover off, turned the motor and it worked. I think there is a pattern developing.

I had this same problem during the hurricanes of 2004. We had to live in our 5er for 10 days and 7 days respectively.(wife was praising the previously malined purchase of a generator :-) ) Bottom line it was fixed under warranty and we were told by our dealer that there was a run of defective motors used on the a/c units. I had got mine to work by hand spinning it and even sprayed some lube but it still was unreliable. I suggest you not take a chance on it failing at an inopportune time and replace it asap. And ask for dometic to cover the cost if it is reasonably new.
Foot note: If you stay in a park with low voltage problems it can cause this as well as damage to your a/c compressor.(among others). If not under warranty this is not very hard to do it yourself if you are the handy type IMHO.

We had a 3650RK stored in Myrtle Beach for the winter ( 2 years old ). I was there on april 14th and faced that problem. After many on and off, it finally worked out. I will talk to the dealer about it. Thanks for the info
