Bedroom slide does not close tightly
I think this is a question for Dale (MIMF2)... but others should feel free to comment. The bedroom slide on my 2005 3400 does not close tightly at the bottom. There is a gap of about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. The top appears to seal properly. Has been in storage all winter but can see no evidence of water or ice damage or infestation by critters. Mentioned to my dealer's service people and they suspect it is a simple adjustment. Are there other options I might suggest if it is not a simple adjustment?
Thanks,
Bill

Bill,
That concerns me a little since your floor plan is basically the same as mine.
Here is an idea. Assuming the hydraulic cylinder is ok and that it has simply come out of adjustment, with the room retracted (in), try pushing the bottom of the room in. If it moves in and seals and then moves back out, then the dealer is correct. It is that the jam nut on the end of the cylinder shaft has loosened for some reason and simply is not pulling the room in far enough.
Remember. All hydraulic cylinder pistons MUST be bottomed in the end of the tub or cylinder end cap so that it can not damage the room flange or facia when it is sealed in either position.
If your dealer needs more help, have him call.
I am curious how that nut would have loosened because it is a nylok nut. Unless a critter was doing a "log roll" on it! :-)

Gosh, Dale, you need to work on your response time...22 minutes. Just can't get good service nowadays! Have we told you lately how valuable you are to this forum?

Judy, you're absolutely right! I have been a little slow on the draw lately.
This business has been crazy already this season. You would think that it was the middle of July! We are in the process of adding some more help to the service and warranty department here at Lippert. It is unbelieveable how many new and used RV's I hear almost everyday that are being sold in North America. And beleive it or not, we are taking calls in the UK and Australia. Things are booming "down under".
When I started at Lippert two years ago to the day, there were about 8 of us all together. Now, nearly 30. Of course we cover frames, landing gear, stabilizers, slide rooms and axles.
It has been one heck of a trip so far.
So, I'm doing my best to stay on top of my game.

And you do a great job of staying on top of your game, Dale. It's nice to hear of a booming business.
