Installed a 46gallon aux tank in truck bed from link below. I installed myself and was very easy to do. Also added the fuel gauge. Initially plumbed it in with a solenoid valve, fuel pump and external filter, plus a bypass valve around the solenoid and fuel pump in case either failed. Lots of fittings and short pieces of fuel hose. Constant battel against small fuel drips. Removed everything except fuel filter and now rely on gravity feed which works fine. Only takes up 12" of bed space and fits under the stationary panel of my Bakflip cover. Worth every penny. https://www.tankandbarrel.com/rectan...nk-p-1223.html

New 45 gal. Aux toolbox/Tank combo

I added a 45 gal. Aluminum diamond plate toolbox/tank combo to my F350 While we were in Quartzsite in January. I no longer am searching for a fuel stop every 30 gallons. It is nice having 95+ gallons of diesel on board. was only $1200 for tank and all the accessories, pump, controller etc. Its one of the best things I have done on the rig.

I forgot to mention that mine is a gas job so that complicates things as far as tying into the fuel system, my biggest problem is that most of the canopy's are to low where the gas pumps are so I really have to scout them out. they cost me $99.00 each as far as fueling from them all I do is feed the 3/4 inch hose into the tank put my thumb on they end and gravity feed into the truck tank. and while it is transfering I walk around strech my legs and do a saftey check Low cost and low tech just the way like it, and the tanks can be easly removed when not in use to regain the full use of my truck bed.

I feel the pain. When we came back to NY in April, I topped off fuel in VA where it was $3.62 knowing it would be much more at home. Wow, when I got home it was $4.99, Ouch.
I'm still nursing that cheap fuel and dread the day I will need to refuel.
I have the 37 gal RDS aux tank. Wish it was bigger but I'm at the edge payload wise so can't go bigger.

Those of you with gas trucks might want to check the law; I believe auxiliary tanks are illegal on gas trucks.

I installed a 40 gallon (sometimes listed as 45 gallon) RDS tank in my bed. I use a Holley clone fuel pump with a filter and check valve and plumb it into the tank relief hose (5/8” hose that runs parallel to the filler hose). I also ran a return hose back to the tank in case I forget to turn off the pump. I switch the pump via a relay and a RF receiver coded to the unused home-link (garage door opener switch) on the overhead console. Works great and I didn’t have to install a switch and run 20 feet if wire.

Curious where that "belief" comes from. Nowhere in my research did I find any laws that makes an auxiliary gas tank illegal. There are requirements of the design and methods used to transfer the gasoline but none found that outlaws there use,

When shopping for Aux tanks that go in the bed, they all say FUEL TYPE: Diesel only.

If you know of any that specifically say for gas it may help others if you can share that information.

I installed the Titan XXL replacing our OEM tank with a 65Gal in 2019 before the "world stopped turning". Having that extra diesel is great, we drive 3 to 5 hours a day when traveling because we like to stop and see the sights. From what i see of the pricing now, I'm extremely happy I did it then. It's nearly double today.
We have been stuck in traffic several times since installing and never worry anymore. And i still have the truck bed for other necessities, hahahaha

The gas diesel thing for auxiliary tanks is a smog issue EPA doesn't like open fill gasoline tanks thats why the tank manufactures say diesel only so they call legally sell them. doesn't mean use cannot add gasoline aux tanks to a truck.
