Noisy fan? Dometic refrigerator

TextTextText

Hi. We have a 2015 Montana big sky fifth wheel. Tried to put a picture of it in here but couldn't figure out how to do it! The rig has a dometic refrigerator that has a fan added to it because The refrigerator is part of the slide and therefore can't exhaust through the ceiling . The fan has started acting very noisy over the last couple of days and seems to be cycling on and off quite frequently and noisily. Anybody have any idea what's going on here? Is this normal? This is our first trip with it and we are on our way to Florida for the winter.

I believe you may actually have 4 fans mounted in the top of the cavity and yes they are noisy. It is something you get used to after time but if they are not running frequently enough or quit your fridge would overheat and cause the solution to cook causing debris/crystals that would eventually block your cooling unit and it would fail!

Some of us have gone further and added an additional fan pointing directly out the top vented cover plus improved the air flow out the top of the cavity with better curved flashing to eliminate any dead air flow spaces.

Mine has been noisy from day one,in hot weather the fans kick in more often but in the fall and winter only about once every few hours and only for a short time,we have just gotten used to it and our Dometic fridge works great

Thank you everybody. The irony is, all this was happening when the outside temperature was like maybe 45° so not sure what to make of that… And we didn't have the furnace running because we couldn't figure out how to do that yet either ha ha . Reason we are traveling in the Rig and not very familiar with it is because there was so much delay in getting it ready for us that we only had one day to get familiarized with it before we actually had to leave for Florida to avoid the horrible weather. Which we didn't really avoid.

You can remove the covers to make sure nothing is blocking airflow into the bottom vent and out the top one. In my installation on a norcold fridge, I have two fans at the top that cycle on/off as needed under control by the fridge. I have a curved metal plate that directs the hot air out the top vent. I also have a barrier across part of the bottom of the top vent that was also installed by keystone. My fans don't come on much in cooler temps. Furnace - on the thermostat, select zone one, then push mode button until "heat" is selected, then set temp using the up and down buttons. John

Thank you very much! I will have husband check on the configuration of the fans in our fridge. We're also taking it to the dealer as we get settled in Florida because it's got multiple other problems which I'll probably be posting on like a leaky slide and a burned-out heating element in the water hot water heater which we never actually used. As for the furnace , i
I am the computer nerd in the house so I did figure that out.
