RV heating system
Hey Ozz I was thinking, what if we pull the hot water tank and furnace out of the RV and install a small boiler and a couple of heat exchangers. One exchanger to heat the hot water for the shower etc, and the other to heat the rig with under floor heat including the slide floor and walls. It would be a big project but what do you think.

And if we have an accumulator to accumulate the steam with an adjustable exhaust out the rear of the fifthwheel with incab controls in the fifthwheel, we could harness that steam to help propel the rig and thus reduce fuel usage in the tow vehicle. If we want to get fancy, we could maybe have a second exhaust, with an exchanger or diverter between them, that goes out the front to help slow the vehicle and reduce wear on the brakes. Just a thought.

Here's the latest in RV heating systems...some are now being put in high end 5th wheels. With one of these you don't have a furnace or water heater: http://aquahot.com/eSource/ecom/eSou...t/RV_Home.aspx

Some friends of ours had a Monaco class A. It used a diesel fired boiler for hot water and heating. Worked very well.

It is interesting, I think it would be best suited for a no-slides unit, also if it was factory installed it would be best, when the rig is being built.
Overkill for a retrofit, and for our trailers. I love the gentle heat from that system.

This is the Aqua Hot system noted in my earlier post. The system has a heating element (like an electic water heater), and the diesel burner is used for heavy use times, like multiple showers, etc.
