Good Sam Extended Warranty

Anyone have any experience with Good Sam Extended Warranty. It seems most of them are a crap shoot and just wondering if Good Sam stands behind theirs or hides behind it

We had GS and had no problem using it. You know the drill read the contract and abide by the terms.. We are now using cornerstone as it is also accepted nation wide. We have used RV shield also. We had no problem with any of them.

What we did not like about GS according to our local dealer is that the dealer or repair facility will get preferred treatment if you are using Camping world as the repair facility... Check that out.

Our dealer said that the first thing you are asked when you call for warranty work on the GS plan is " are you a Camping world. He then demonstrated by calling the number while on speaker phone and that is exactly what they said. He was then put on hold.

Bought Good Sam Extended for 3 years at the end of our first year owning our 2013 3725RL, never needed it, dropped it at end of third year. I bought it as Rich had told me about all the issues he had and how he was able to use the coverage. As I remember it was then $367 per year for 3 years. It is just a toss of the dice, and we helped pay for all those who did need it. That is/was the only extended warranty we have ever bought.

If you look close at the Good Sam warranty you will see it does not cover a lot of thing like flooring, siding and more. That includes flooring and other parts damaged by defective slides.

If you look at any EW you will find they do not cover everything and you should look before purchase. They are actually service contracts.

I purchased my Montana from Camping World along with a 5 yr extended warranty for $2000. One year later had problems with the Cable and Pulley system that sheared off the wall. This was just after the original warranty ended. I then turned to my GS extended warranty. BUT was told the Cale and pulley system was Exclusion # 6 of many exclusions. No they did Not cover the repair either. Yes I do believe I wasted my money on this EW. Never again. Jerry

You are supposed to read the contract and know the exclusions before purchase..

Sure In a perfect world But while in the process of purchasing a new RV you get start eyed and while signing all the paper work they pop the offer of an extended warranty the sales person quickly goes through the offer you often do not ask the right questions. Of course they do not offer information. I do Not remember any discussion about exclusions. I definitely do not have a written list of exclusions. I asked the EW company for a list. They referred me back to the salesman I ask Camping Worol for a list of exclusions and said to talk to finance. The lady in CW finance was not there the two times I went to see her.
Yes I should have known. But I did not ask and they did not offer info when I purchased. In retrospect I feel like I was treated unfairly. I also believe that many others who purchase EW are also just caught up in the moment as I was.
The ultimate responsibility is mine. I know that. But I am still frustrated and very sorry I agreed to buy the EW. I believe it is just another way camping world has to add additional charges to a sale.
I know I have to eat this mistake but I will continue encouraging others to not purchase an EW

JerLinR1,

My wife and I bought a brand new Keystone Montana High Country 331RL in March of 2019 with the sticker on the unit stating it was completed in February 2019. Had a few minor problems, but just after the one year original warranty ran out, the inverter for the residential refrigerator dies. Now, I am getting the runaround from the manufacturer of the inverter, GS and yes the extended warranty/service contract company. Spent some time this afternoon looking through the service contract documents. Just like any other warranty/insurance documents, you have to read the fine print. There are always more of what nots covered than what is covered. Looking at canceling ours and recouping some of that $$. It wasn't cheap. We went 84 months. Ouch!

Put the money in a good dividend paying stock fund. Add to it as you can (tax rebates, bonuses etc.). When you need it, it will be there for you, no questions asked.

The extended warranty is a bet. The insurance company is betting you won't use it and you are betting you will. I guess there is a reason why they stay in business.

That is the same for all insurance companies the only one that you win is life insurance.

We have the Cornerstone plan and the contract clearly states what is NOT covered of course one has to read it to find out.

I have it. I am thinking that I am going to be using it because I have major electrical system failure with my brand new 2020 3931FB that we just took delivery on just about 3 weeks ago. They (CW) picked up the 5er today to take to the shop. May have it back in a week or so. Will let you know how it goes.
