Sounds like maybe the cable has broken? You may need to replace.

Look behind the convienence center and see if it's unhooked if not, you're going to have to drop the underbelly and see what's wrong. As stated above, the cable is probably disconnected or broken.

A couple of suggestions come to mind:

1. Fill the tank and flush several times.
2. Connect a reverse flush adapter to your dump line with a hose & backflush.
3. Fill the tank, add Zaal Noflex Digestor to liquefy sludge, then dump.

Until you get it fixed, add a Valterra twist on gate valve. Helps prevent surprises too.

Ditto Daryles!!.............I also have one installed. You can also get one with or without a hose flush connection like the Camco 39062 one in the link below.

Replace valve

After following everyone's advice and testing all, the valve needs to be replaced. As with other posts the design of the system does not allow for easy replacement of the valves. Will use the saws-all method and a rubber sleeve that is recommended by other owners with the same problem. Unfortunately i can only replace one valve, as the pandemic has created a supply shortage on almost everything. Fortunately the black water valve seems to be working okay. The 3' sleeve needed is readily available at Lowe's or Home Depot. I am going to cut the gray water side as it is easier to get to.

Don’t let me stop you from hacking up your plumbing, but it’s not necessary to cut the pipe. You only need to pull it back about 1/4 inch after you unbolt the valve. A ratchet strap wrapped around the pipe and attached back to something solid will do the trick. Just don’t try to pull it too far.

Agree on not cutting any pipe. Take a second look. Also consider using valves that actuate by solid rods, not cables. The cables are an added maintenance issue and unreliable.

Thanks for the pictures. Do you have any from a little further back?
I was wondering about strap supports under the tanks.

Grey water valve

I went ahead and cut the pipe which is no big deal. The rubber sleeve seals up fine. Put in a new Bristol valve, which was the same as the one i removed, and the gray water still doesn't shut off. Have no idea what to do next? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Do you have a seperate grey water tank for the kitchen? Is that drain valve closed? Which faucet are you using to test that new valve? A little more info would help.

I was wondering about strap supports under the tanks.
This is the best picture of the tanks I have. If I remember right, the tanks are only held in by the flange around their edges. If I were to open it up again I would add additional support. There is angle bar under the coroplast, but there is a sizable gap between the bar and the tanks.
Sorry about the upside down photo.

I did discover that i have two grey water tanks. The valve for the galley tank is located in a different location between the two axles. I am new to the RV world and am still learning. I had been testing the valve by running the kitchen sink. I discovered the drain pipe from the kitchen area and followed it back to the valve. Nothing in the manual about the location of the valve and previous owners didn't tell me about it.Thanks for your help.

I did discover the second tank by following the drain pipe for the kitchen area to find the valve. It is nicely hidden between the two axles. Nothing in the manual indicates the location of that valve. Previous owners didn't tell us about it. The valve i did replace was not in very good shape so nothing lost.

Thanks for your help.

Add this, until you fix it-- I have one anyway, so if any leaks while driving you dont get in trouble when hooking up--

Cool Second gray water tank

Thanks for your post. Just found this site today trying to find out how to drain my 2nd gray water tank and got enough information from the reply’s that I found the valve right in front of my axels. Mine too were not marked and as my unit is used I didn’t get a manual. Plus as I just registered to the site I haven’t figured out how to post a question.
