YIPEEE....Finally Fixed..."I think"

went out this morning to tape the underbelly where we cut it to check the slide out ram.. It was very loose.. I decided to give it one more try on fixing the Large Slide out... As you may know, I thought it was fixed before.. And it broke again badly... I adjusted the Ram Out further.. So far it is smooth as silk .. No popping or cracking noises... I only checked the in and out about 4x .. So , now the black water tank is fixed and hopefully the slide out... Thanks for the thoughts fellas... Appreciated it...

OK I get it that there is a problem duh.
This is a simple mechanism built by humans. It can be fixed.

You need to do some real experimentation on this and report what you find. Slide in,,all measurements. slide out all measurements.. we can't be there but this is a solvable problem. It takes some real tension to strip a gear tooth.

Maybe the best thing for you to do is get someone who can fix it to fix it. What you are doing isn’t working. No need to keep on doing the same thing over and over.

I adjusted the slide the same distance from each side. We moved it in the out. Now its off .75 inches coming in it’s popping. Not going out..i adjusted the slide top to bottom using a level.. adjusted the ram out and in..

Is it 1 ram that runs both left and right slides in/out or 2 rams, One for each slide?

Daryles ... most, if not all hydraulically controlled slide-outs have only one hydraulic ram to move them in and out. If you look under the larger hydraulic slide-outs, you'll see two gear racks toward each end. Next to the frame is a shaft with two cog gears on either end that engage the racks. This balance shaft is not powered, but is just in place to mechanically allow the entire slide to move squarely in and out since the hydraulic ram is usually near one end. Smaller hydraulic slides like a bedroom slide have a single cylinder in the middle of the slide that does the work ... due to the small size of the slide, there is no balance shaft on these.

Around the early 2000's there were no balance shafts as the slides were hydraulically moved in and out squarely via wire cables and pulleys under the larger slides.

Are your two pinion/spur gear centered on your two rack gears? There are two nuts and bolts that squeeze the plates either side of pinion. If these are too loose the gears might loose mesh with rack. I had problem with mine that gear was about 1/4 in mesh.

replaced gear packs. And spur gears twice.

If you have replaced the rack and pinion twice something is wrong. They shouldn’t strip out once. How much clearance is there in the gear teeth. There shouldn’t be but a few thousand or an inch. If you have too much you will strip out either one. Look at it the pinion should almost bottom out in the rack. If it doesn’t it must be fixed.

Have not replaced the rack.. had it working perfectly. Then we moved about 200 miles and it started popping again..im going to get a pro to fix it..

Neighbor with a 2017 3811 had the same issue, we tried all the things you have, he ordered a part from lippert that appears to have fixed it, give lippert a call and explain your issue, they have a fix that may work.

Just out of curiosity, what all are you adjusting? Where are these adjusting places?
Secondly, you do know that the gear packs can have two different gears? One gear has 15 teeth and the other has 18. If you installed the wrong gear that could cause the slide to jump a tooth.

There are 6 adjustments and i messed with all of them.No one could have fixed this. I brought the 3610 into GIBBS rv in coos bay. Lippert came out with a new gear pack bracket. The gears would not make proper contact with the rack teeth. Hence the popping.. They got it all back right with the adjustments. But there is still a problem. This was a factory mess up.. The 2 gears were not timed at keystone.. it needs to go back to Gibbs to have everything loosened and gear timing done. The gear timing is necessary so the powered side and non powered side move at the same time .The adjustments are the hydraulic ram.. this controls how far the slide goes in and out. Two outer height adjustments, 2 side to side adjustments. No one could have fixed this without the upgraded brackets or gear pack holders. No wonder i got so frustrated..
