What type pinbox are you using? I am pulling a 40’ Montana 3721RL with a 3/4t GMC Duramac with a Mo-Ryde pin box and a Demco and have zero chuckle. The combination works great.

What is the GVWR RATING on your truck? Should be on the driver side door frame.

We use the Pullrite 2600 superglide to tow our 2002 Montana with our 09 F-250 short bed 4x4. We had very bad chucking and porpoising with the stock pin box. I switched the pin box to the Gen-Y Executive Torsion Flex 5th Wheel Pin box, and upgraded the trailer suspension to the MoRide heavy duty shackles & wet bolts, Road Armour equalizers, Sailun 637 tires, Dexter never adjust brakes, and now our trailer tows like a dream. Make sure and adjust the tension bolt on the 2600 to eliminate slop when the slider is fully forward, or it gets loose and will increase chucking and porpoising. I have found that I have to adjust my tension every 3 or 4 towing trips. In my opinion there will always be some chucking and porpoising because of the poor state of the roads, so having items that can tame the truck and trailer interactions between each other as they are impacted by the road surface is important and how I went about addressing mine, and it worked for us.
Edit: I am also still considering adding air bags or Sumo springs to try to take away what little adverse movement is still being transferred back and forth between the truck & trailer. I’m extremely happy with how things are now, and its way better than it was, but I figure if I can make it even better then its worth it.

Some great discussion here.
We tow a 330RL and like several others, upgraded to the Reese Airborne hitch as we were getting lots of tugging/slapping/chucking/etc. Totally eliminated it.
I have literally just ordered a set of Timbrens to give even more stability to my TV - 2021 Silverado 2500. Payload on the sticker is 3,290 and I have scaled. I am good when fully loaded for a long trip with at least 50% full frsh water as it moves my weight back sufficiently!
Good luck!

Now I didn't consider filling the fresh tank to offset pin weight. Does that really make that much difference?

If the fresh tank is at the back end and as ours does, has about 50 gallons capacity, that's 400 pounds, so should take at least 250 - 300 pounds off the hitch.

Oma -
I have the same Demco hitch you had; however, I have a Mor Ryde pin box and suspension. When I started to experience mild chucking and inspected the hitch and pin box. It was in need of service, and that eliminated the issue. May I suggest a Mor Ryde pin box on the fifth wheel.
Best of luck

So we hit the road again today but we increased our airbags to 45 from 25 and SOooo much improvement. I have checked all the weight ratings for our truck and rig and we are well under the maximum capacity on all.
Thank you everyone for your advice, greatly appreciated.
We are planning to get a different pin box for next season and with the airbags at the appropriate level we should not have any more chucking/ proposing problems.
Happy travels to y’all.
