Water pump keeps running after water fill
My water pump keeps running right after I filled the tank with water. I can turn it off and I still get water. It seems to be at the same rate as with the water pump turned on. Could I have an air bubble blocking the water pump some how? I did over run the water fill a little and saw water coming out of the back water fill hatch.
Any help would be appreciated.

The pump will run as it pressurizes your water supply. It should run until pressure is achieved and then it will stop. It will restart when a faucet or flush occurs because this drop in pressure will cause the pump to turn on.
If it never stops, then you are not getting to the proper pressure. I would suspect a leak in the plumbing somewhere that prevents the pump from achieving the pressure it needs, like the water coming out the back you described. That area could be your culprit. You could be collecting water inside the underside cover someplace else which is why you may not be readily seeing it.
It sure sounds like a water leak somewhere.

Is the valve in the normal or auto fill position? Are you still hooked up to the water source with pressure?
Source should be off and valve in normal position, after some time tthe pump should stop.
Good luck!!!!!!

I may be misunderstanding what you are saying, but you do not need to run the pump to fill the storage tank. I believe yours is the same system as mine and all I do to fill the tank is turn the valve to auto fill until it comes out the filler neck and vent or the level light comes on for the amt. I want.
I then turn the valve back to normal and turn the pump on if I need water in the sink and etc. After you cut the water off the pump should stop after a few seconds when the pressure is built back up in the line. When you cut the pump off there is still some pressure on the line so it will continue to flow for a few seconds with the pump off and the spigot open.

If you have air in the water heater tank it will take some time to pressurize the system. As was mentioned if you have the valve set to winterize it will continue to run also. These are a couple of ideas.

I got it working somehow. I turned on the fill just like I did earlier. When I turned it off and went inside and turned on the pump it began working just fine. I am confused but happy it is now working okay. Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate your efforts to help me find the problem. Maybe just a gremlin I guess.

When filling the empty fresh water tank, I first hook to the city system to fill the water heater and pressurize the lines. Then I fill the tank thru the fill opening. If I just use the fill opening without filling the water heater, the pump will run for 3-4 minutes just to fill the water heater and the lines. Could this be what you experienced. As mentioned before, once everything is up to pressure the pump will turn off.

I do not think so. I already had water in the hot water heater. I have been parked here for about 2 months so all I was doing was re-filling my water tank. I have done this several times but never had this happen. I think once I turned the water back on for a short time I did clear something which enabled the pump to work as it had in the past. I do not know what that was but it is fixed now and as I said, I am a Happy Camper. Pun intended. LOL.....

I have had a similar issue at times and just crack a water line to let the air out, then all seems to work fine. Sometimes have had to do it twice.
