The first of May will see pulling our 2955RL out of storage. I will be working in the Badlands Bombing Range, which is part of the Ogalala Sioux Tribe Pine Ridge Reservation, throughout the summer. I will be staying in the Berry Patch Campground in Rapid City.
This will be my first time at that campground. Last summer I stayed at the Leadville Campground in Colorado for the summer while working at Camp Hale, Colorado.
I will be reporting on the Berry Patch Campground through the summer. When the owner called me in Omaha (responding to his answering machine) he sounded very friendly and open. Since I will be there for several months, he said he would even forego the annual increase (doubling) of space rents during Sturgis Week. That impressed me, too.
That was the good news. The bad news is that my oldest sister died this past Friday. My wife and I were living in the same house with her and shared expenses for the house. She was semi-invalid and an insulin dependent diabetic. She has recently had some heart problems (including a pacemaker) and I think a massive embolus (moving blood clot) broke loose and cause a massive stroke. Anyhow, we will have to sell this house and find something small that we can use until I retire (566 days). Anyone looking for a 2600 sq ft 2 story house with a 1,500 sq ft basement on a 13,500 sq ft lot in a beautiful neighborhood?
