Adding canopy shade

Considering adding shade to canopy. Fellow camper suggested the type where a 2 foot section slides onto the roller and gets rolled up with canopy. The remaining 6 or 7 feet are supposedly easily zipped onto the 2 foot section when canopy deployed. I'm looking at one by Vista I believe. Any recommendations?

Also does it make a difference whether we anchor the shade straight down or out at a slight angle? Makes a difference in which length to purchase.

I purchased this style of shade and found the original zipper failed quickly. I then took it to an awning shop and had them install high quality zipper (YKK). I had them install a zipper on each end of the shade zipping in to the center so that I only had to deal with 1/2 of the shade material at a time. This has worked very well for me. I will say that the cost of the new zipper was more than the cost of the original shade but well worth it. This system is much easier to use than trying to install the shade into the awning tube each time I wanted to use it. Most importantly it is faster to remove and roll up awning when a wind storm is coming!!

Highly recommend Shade Pro. Quality product and the zipper is still working after 10 years.

I have had the Vista for a few years. It has been fine. You can let the long part hang straight down or stake it out at an angle (which is want we do). It definitely stops the sun and makes it comfortable (and cooler) when sitting outside.

I have one from Carefree of Colorado for my big awning, and one from Shade Pro for my small awnings (Carefree does not make the small ones). Not problems with either; zippers work fine. Both have the short section that rolls up with the awning.

Tommy, did you end up getting the Shade Pro? What length and width did you end up getting? We're looking into getting one.

We also have the Carefree one. The screen is fine mesh and also helps block rain. We love it.
