My I Suggest...

All, maybe it's a pet peeve of mine but when an OP asks for input, shouldn't we get some kind of follow up at some point from them? Often when advice is requested many are eager to provide responses. I regard what we do here as more than just a help line. Some kind of closure, especially for repairs is very much appreciated. Anyway, just a thought.

Mike,

Good input - feedback should be provided. There is always something to learn from it.

I agree it is a little irksome. Often the back and forth discussion may go on for 2-3 pages and then nothing. Never any feedback from the original poster as to if and/or how the problem was solved. Seems common courtesy to let those who tried to help know about the results rather than just leave it hanging.

When you help someone they should say thank you but it doesn’t always happen. That is all I will say. I will leave the rest to your imitation.

I understand what you are saying, but frequently, from the advise the poster gets, they have to buy something. After getting the item, whether it's a tool or part or both they then have to acomplish a repair they probably aren't comfortable with. This process could take days of even weeks. Then they can sit back and have a beer. If, after all that, they think about coming back on and adding to their original post they may not yet be skilled enough to find the old post on this site. Just saying

All too often, once the crisis is over, those who helped to overcome, are too quickly forgotten.

I try to respond to any and all that answer a question or statement I've posted though may (am?) be guilty of neglect occasionally. I might get testy if they haven't actually read my entire post or even the other's thread posts though.

This is especially true if someone sends me a PM and asks specifically what I did or have some experience with. Case in point, I spent he best part of an hour (another forum site) putting a PM together complete with part numbers and a couple photos on adding disc brakes to my 6K axles. Nary a peep from that character (being nice).

It would also be helpful if the person asking for help would let it be known the year and model number of their Montana!

A year or so ago I was having a problem with temperature fluctuations on our fridge. I got lots of suggestions, and even had a mobile tech out. We didn’t get anywhere. I then started recording the times and temperatures and did a lot of research. I finally discovered what the issue was and solved it. Then I posted the “fix” so that anyone in the future with a similar problem only had to search the forum for the issue and see the result. I only hope it helps someone at some point in time. We’re all here for each other, after all.

Great suggestion..........feedback from the OP is appreciated to find out what action(s) they took, based on the forum's comments and recommendations.

Your right, it is good manners to have follow up response.

Yes if they tell us what the fix was then we can see who was right.

Agree

Yes! I agree

Even a “closed, resolved, or contacted by Keystone”. This would let the caring members know that you are not still in need of help.
