Prodigy-2500HD-2955RL
I have the Prodigy controller, Silverado 2500HD (Dura/Allis combo), and a 2955RL. If you have a simular set-up, what settings are you using on the Prodigy? I have only towed from the dealer to home, practiced backing some, and have it set at 5.8 gain, 6.2 boost. Set-up by directions, braking seems smooth after I adjusted the gain. Since I am new to towing, checking to see if I am missing something.

We have a different setup. Ours was a bit heavier and it worked great at 7.0. Originally I had it at 7.8 but when I had the brakes checked my dealer said I had it set too aggressively and had severely worn the magnets and had heat stress cracks in the linings (at about 15,000 to 20,000 miles). Backed it off to 7.0 and it braked just as well. We had the boost button set at 3 to give us more aggressive braking at initial application of the brakes. I'd guess you might want to bring yours up a bit if you don't think it's braking well enough. If you're happy with the 5.8 setting, leave it be.

I have a 2001 2955 and my prodigy gain is set for about 6.3 and boost 2. These settings Work fine for my rig.I reached theses settings after a little trial and error testing. Brakes of my trailer should engage slightly before the trucks or I get a thump on stopping or start up in my Reese hitch. You said boost 6.2, I believe you meant b.2...does look like a 6 on the controller. I would experiment with a few settings until you find the one that is right for your set up...Good luck.

My mountaineer weighs in around 10,250 dry. My dealer recommended settings that I have used without any problems. I set the Prodigy at 7.3 and the boost at b.1 in low speed city streets and b.2 on expressways and highways.
I hauled my rig 2300 miles to Arizona in November with zero problems and that included several 6% up and down grades running from Flagstaff to Phoenix.

Just out of curiosity, how do you check the gain and boost. Our dealer set ours up and its been great, but it would be nice to know the settings just in case I ever have a problem. I have my manual in the trailer about three hours from here for the winter, or I'd look it up myself. Probably need the trailer hooked up to check.

rames14: you set the gain by pushing the lever to the right and turn the wheel on the side or top, can't remember which, to set the gain. You set the boost on the wheel on the right 1, 2 or 3. You test it by driving about 20 miles an hr. and pushing the lever to the rt. The 5'rs wheels shouldn't lock up. If they do back off the gain. I think that's how it works.
2002dura: I have mine set about 6.5 with boost at 2. Works ok with our rig running at just under the 14100 GVW.
