We were camping last weekend and I had the 50 amp cord with a 30 amp adapter. AC running with many other things. Popped breaker, 30 amp plug was so hot I couldn't touch it. Had to rotate using hi amp appliances.

Mike,
The plug shouldn't get that hot. It sounds as though you had a bad pedestal.

I recently burned the end on a 30 amp cord. I told about it in this thread here. It seemed to be a bad connection with the plug in the pedestal. I have used a 50’ 30Amp cord for a long time and never had any trouble until that week. That is what I use when hooked up at home without any trouble. If I were using two A/C’s I doubt it would carry the load on the 30.

I resurrected the 50 Amp from retirement and will be caring it along to use whenever 50 AMP is available. There are so many parks that only supply up to 30 AMP and as mentioned these behemoths really like to use the power in today’s world.
