Trailer tire should be replaced when the TIRE is 5 years old, not 5 years on trailer, I don't cover due to this replacement schedule. To cover or not to cover is a mind thing, if you have a peace of mind at covering them if, then cover.

Goodyear dealers aren’t supposed to even fix a flat after 6 years.

Michelin says yearly inspections beginning at 5 yrs. Replace before 10 yrs. Guess each manufacturer has their own guidelines.

My Michelins on the trailer are 6yrs old this month. Checked with Discount Tires and he said no problem with another 10,000 miles this spring. After that will be buying tires for Monty and pickup. Truck is going on 7 yrs.

Forgot to say in last post is that I have always used tire covers during winter if not in use and if parked for long duration. I have always used Armor-All on all my vehicles and trailer. like the look of new tires for appearance.

Over at Discount Tire, they say 10 years from code on tire. We got these https://classicaccessories.com/rv-deluxe-wheel-covers at AMZN for $54 in December but have not used them yet. RV is under cover with slides out and much tree shade east and west. Not sure if I'll ever use them unless parked for extended time under harsh sun exposure. And ditto on the 303 Protectant.

Don't use them while travelling as the slides "hide" the tires.
Use them while in storage though.

We put covers on the side facing south when we are parked at home or for long stays. For weekend trips we don't bother.
