I had the this happen a rough ride about a year ago from Las Vegas to Lake Havasu. Opened the door once we arrived in Havasu and was able to catch it before it hit the floor. we had to open it with me holding it every time we needed to get into it. Of course nothing was in the door shelves at this point.
Picked up an adjustable security door bar at Lowes and that worked for the drive home.
To repair I used a piece of 1/8" x 3" flat aluminum to match the bottom of the door with the piece that broke off glued back in place. The aluminum spans the entire width of the bottom of the door. Secured to the bottom with flat head screws, Painted black to match. Placed a thin nylon washer between the hinge post and door. Now the door actually fits better than before the repair.
My DW found this repair on a YOU TUBE video, so thank you to the individual who posted that.
I would highly recommend this "Fix" to anyone even before this prone to fail pivot point breaks.
