One more question, When these breakers blow, are they resetable or do they burn out?

Factory breakers are only 50amp,thats why its recommend to install 80amp as thats what Lipperts specs call for.

Yes I think the factory ones will self reset, whereas a Bussman brand 80amp,you can purchase with manual reset on it.

You will likely have to drill the terminals to 1/4” to get them on the 80A breaker. I actually went one bit size larger.

The amp rating should be stamped on the side of the breaker. These are cheaply made with a piece of bi-metal that bends one way when it gets too hot and breaks the circuit. Then it cools and bends back and reconnects the circuit. Thereby being “auto reset”.

Ok so we are Part time and just bought a new 2018 Montana 3121RL but not sure where the issue is with the original breaker and what exactly is the problem?

If we just use our unit 60 nights per year would it pay to buy the new breaker and install it in front compartment?

That’s more than we use ours right now, eventually I imagine the 50A to fail, so I replaced it. I would replace it or have the 80A on hand in the event of a failure. The slides OR the level-up won’t work if it fails to reset.

thanks for posting the discussion and pictures. I had bought the 80 amp breaker after ready lots of posts on this, but then I wasn’t sure which one to replace. My 2018 3120 looks just like Whitty’s.

Ok so you can’t just wire in the 80amp with existing wires?

When you say drill the terminals what exactly does that mean.

The breakers are inexpensive and relatively easy to replace. But there is no particular hurry to jump in and do the replacement. They don’t suddenly fail and leave you stranded not being able to move the slides. If and when they start to fail the slides will begin to move intermittently. They will move some, stop for a few seconds, move some more, stop a few seconds, ....... until they reach full travel. Plan the mod to do it at your leisure and to fit your schedule. Mine worked fine for 3 years before the problem began.

Yes you can use the existing wires. The lugs on the 80A are slightly larger than the holes in the terminals on the wires. Easy chore to simply drill them larger.
It’s truly a 15 minute job start to finish.

Just follow the big wire from the hyd. Pump to the breaker it’s hooked to and hook the new one up the same. Done deal!

New circuit breaker

So our breaker was starting to go out. Just like described above. I decided to change it out while camping. Fairly simple task. I did have to drill out the connector holes to 1/4 inch to make them fit on the new breaker. After that everything works great.

Not sure about the size of wire it will accept, and you will have to chop the terminals off your wires.

You can find them at any marine shop for trolling motors if you are in a hurry.

It's just one of MANY things that Keystone has done to cause on-going annoyances among owners (and previous owners such as myself) . Obviously whoever makes these penny-pinching decisions has never had to live with the aggrivation.
