Travels and RV Parks

Hi all We left Last Wensday heading out to Arizona, for our Spring and Summer Jobs. We left Crescent City CA at 10.00 a.m. and arrived in Nice, CA at 5:30 P.m. We took 101 down At Ukiah CA we took Hwy 20 in to LAke County. Nice is one of the Several towns around Clear Lake, it's about 10 miles across and 25 miles long. I grew up here from the age of 14 to 19 yrs old. I left for four years and then back to Ukiah, then moved to Oregon in 1978. A High School friend told me of a place we knew as the Aurora Club, that was a Motel and Bar, was bought out by the local Casino, Robinson Rancheria. Now just called the Aurora RV Club, The long time workamper Manager by the name of Bob has treated us great. Thier is about 69 sites some across the road, Lakeshore Blvd. Twelve of them right on the Lake just above the Beach. He let us have one of them for the same price as less expensive ones that are across the street. We are the only ones here, the wife is having so much fun visiting my School buddies and field trips such as looking for Lake County Diamonds and secound hand shops and antique shops, she asked if we could stay a few more days. So we will leave on Sunday Morning to run down Hwy 20 to Hwy 53 to I-5 Then down for maybe 4hrs and stop for the Night. Plans are then to make it to Bakersfield to the Camping World for a couple of repairs on the Monty. I do have one question of you, has anyone used that Camping world for repairs and if so how did they do? Thanks I will update the results of mine later. Have safe travels.

Randy,

Sounds like a nice memory lane trip for you. Suggest you determine up front the per hour labor cost at CW Bakersfield first so you won't be overly surprised. My guess is at least $125 per hour but not sure.

Sometime but not always, smaller RV dealers charge less if you can get in. Just an opinion.
Good luck.

I am hoping my extended warranty, will cover it.First thing is the Hyd hoses for the slides failed and the gears in the landing legs are slipping. So we shall see if they can't get them to cover it,if they won't then I will have to do it myself. I have done most all my own vehicle work all my life. It's nice to have others do it when I can.

Good luck. Enjoy your trip to the Grand Canyon. We plan on looking you up when we go to the North Rim in May.

HI rames14 that would be great, call or email the night before and we may be able to get you in on a day pass, we will need to ask if we can. IN 08 and 2010 we could, but it may have changed.
We got to camping world yesterday and our extended warranty company will not cover hoses, tire and such because they wear out. They will cover the landing legs, the tech said one is bent and needs replaced, so here we are for another night. Not to bad we have 30 amp service no water, but I have 1/3 of a tank wife doesn't like the sound of the water pump lol. So we use it very sparingly. They said the leg should be here in the a.m and should be done by Noon. Hope so want to get out of Bakersfield to many people.

We will definitely let you know when we're in the area. 34 years ago we spent part of the night at the Grand Canyon. We arrived after dark and couldn't find a motel. Ended up leaving in the dark. Terrie has never let me forget it. So, on our way to retirement we are going to take the long way between Texas and Colorado.

Arrived very late from Bakersfield to Las Vegas. We thought we could make it just passed there and stay somewhere off the road. We were way to tired, stopped at a couple of casino's and they said we could not stay over night the liability was to high and wouldn't take the chance. So we decided to again take I=15 out of Vegas just as we were almost to 15 the DW saw a sign said Camping right in the middle of Vegas, it was a Koa must have 4oo sites. I didn't want to unhook since in was dark and around 7:30 p.m. The site would cost me 62.00 I have never paid that much for a site in the almost 6 yrs we have been traveling. I must have been overly tired I paid it. The bathroom while sinks and toilet were clean the shower floor tiles were broken and stained in two of the bathrooms, two showers each. The wife said the female one was good and also clean. The dog walk is full of cactus and broken signage, we wouldn't even walk them in there. I would not for one ever stay here again. They said the site was 69ft long, my monty is 37ft and my 07 dodge is I think 19ft its a long bed quad cab.
We were street to street barely fit in the site, I had to pull close to the pedestal so the wife could park her Kia next to us so we could park at the same site. The bottom line is we got some much needed sleep and will be heading to Sand Hollow State Park IN Hurricane Ut, next. Thanks for reading this rambling on. P.S. My wife just came in from walking the dogs, there is another dog walk and she couldn't stop talking about how nice it was a fenced in area, leash free with a doggie play ground equestrian coarse. She commented that is the only thing nice in this park. There are several Casino's within walking distance so I think they change according to this.

Randy,

The key phrase in your post "I must have been overly tired I paid it." covers it all. We all have done it.

Yes, you nailed it mail2us. Again we did get a great night sleep, and I-15 was a few block away and fairly easy on. We traveled about 2 1/2 hours and reached Sand Hollow State Park in Utah, were we have stayed before in 2010. This time we have the Kia also and the same site was still only 28.00 a night, but to keep her car at the site was 15.00 each night for the two nights cost us 86.00. Its rained last night and the wind howled and its raining now at 4:42 p.m. The bathrooms and showers here are cleaner here than the KOA in Vegas. I called ahead to Powell Page Rv Park, were we will stay untill the snow melts up at the North Rim. They will need a back ground check to stay monthly, Forever Resorts whom we will work for this spring and summer has done one and the manager at the trailer park, said she would accept a copy of it.

We arrived a Page lake Powell RV Park around 2:15 today the ninth set up and will walk around Lake Powell tomorrow. On Monday I will check in with Forever Resorts whom we will be working for this Summer. The Park also need a background check for those who want to stay on a monthly basic. I will be setting up until the end of April. So I won't be posting for travels after today. I haven't seen the bathrooms or showers here yet so I may post on how clean or not clean next time. Have a great night all.

rames14 Thanks, not used to finding things to do all day, its been almost a month and we sometimes have cabin fever. I have messaged my supervisor and asked if he had anything for me to do until we can, move to the Canyon. The company also runs Bryce and Zion. So waiting to hear. Talk later.
