Question on Chevy Trailering Package

Does anyone know, with the new Chevy's, do they have a plug in the bed as well as down by the hitch? Since I'm picking my new truck up next Saturday, there's time to have them install one if they aren't standard. Thanks in advance.

No they are on the bumper now and not on the Hitch itself. There is a $35.00 option which allows you to not have to splice into the hitch connector. If you have it, the wireing will be above the drivers side rear tire or that were it was on my dually. Most Rv shop tech want know about the wireing unless they have done them before. I would recomend the in bed connector. Great choice on Trucks. GBY............

When I ordered my new Chevy, 2500 HD 4x4 SRW, I had them put in the new wiring harness in the bed. Mine is also just back of the rear tire on the driver side.

Thanks for the reply. I sometimes tow a boat, so I need the one by the receiver, but would also like the in-bed one by the driver side tire. I will make sure they install, even at a little extra $'s.

Our 2007.5 Chevrolet 2500HD D/A came with the trailering package which had a wiring harness package in plastice bag taped to frame on driver side rear wheel well. The RV company took that and put our additional plug into the bed on passenger side by tailgate when installing our hitch.

If you have the Trailering Package included in your new truck that should be included. You may want to look for it as described above. Good Luck. Dennis

Thanks, Dennis. I take it that is in addition to the normal one down on the hitch? Sometimes I do tow a boat, so I would like one both places.

The hitch wiring is usually normal with a tow package, but you had to request the addtional wiring for the 5th wheel hitch. I have both on my new 08 GMC.

Yes the wiring package is in addition to the plug by the license plate. I did state incorrectly that my wiring was installed on the passenger side. It was installed on the inside wall of the bed on the driver side. Sorry about that. It was an optional item that came with our new truck and it was on the sticker @ $35.00 for the wiring package. I am of the belief that some RV'ers probably just hang the wire over the tailgate from the rear bumper plug but am glad our truck came with the wiring cause it's just a neater job to us. Good Luck.
