St. Louis bypass?
Our visit here in Aurora is coming to an end and we will be heading to California via I-40 to avoid the forecasted snow and cold temperatures on I-80.
This will be my first trip through the St. Louis area. My trip routing software shows the route right through the center of the city. I am wondering if it wouldn’t be better to take I-270 north and west of the city. Any one have a recommendation?

I am not sure what your present location is. However, even if I am coming from the southeast I take I-270 up and around to avoid the traffic. My GPS also routes through downtown.

We are currently in Aurora Illinois. So we will be approching from the northeast.

I would definitely take I-270. No reason to go thru the city.

That is unless you want another chance to get togather with us. We arrived at in St Louis Today. We took I-70 all the way from Kansas City and will be here until Sunday. We are at the Queen Casino RV Park. You have our e-mail. Hope it works out this time.

We came through there last year with no problem. The traffic moved quickly and it took just a short time to go through.

By all means take I-270 around St Louis. Our GPS also takes us thru St Louis when we come up on I-64 heading for I-70 going west.

I always take I-270 and 370. Between them you miss a lot of city traffic and it merges with I-70 on the east and west sides. We've used this route many times.
Grant, I assume you mean I-70 since I-40 doesn't go through St. Louis?

We ended up passing to the south of the city by taking 255 to 270 to 44. Very nice with reasonable traffic.
Thanks all for the suggestions.
