Oven ignitor

Hi all,

Heres a question my Suburban SRN cookstove has a ignitor button which sparks when depressed. Its works great on the top burners but not the oven. The oven ignitor is sparking away but won’t light, it does light right up with a lighter. Now here is the question how would it possibly light the oven with a spark ignition when it has a thermocouple, the thermocouple requires heat to light the oven. So I don’t see how a sparker would ever work yet there is one there????? Thanks Happy Camping.

If you are following the same procedure with the lighter that you are with the ignitor it should work. If the sparker will not ignite the pilot light it has to be out of alignment and you may need to adjust its' position. The thermo couple doesn't come into play until it heats up and keeps the pilot function of the gas valve open allowing you to release the oven temperature knob. At least that is how it works on the older units.
