Front Jack Stands

The front drivers side landing leg has broken loose on my 09 36 ft.
Mountaineer while lifting the Rv off my truck. I had to jack and block under the frame to remove from the truck.
Does anyone know how this is attached at the top? Both pieces slide
down to the ground. The shaft going through the motor turns freely
on top of the broken leg and the other leg works fine.
We are set up and fine at this time but need information on how to
make repairs. Thanks for any sugestions.

As best as I understand from your description, it sounds as if the down shaft is broken.

There's a worm gear like shaft that goes down there and does the work. Like Larry says, sounds like it's broken.

As stated earlier, contact Venture. They probably will want to sell you a new leg as liability fears have limited the pieces part they will sell. There are a whole bunch of PDFs with everything you ever wanted to know about the legs and motors on their web site. Email me (click on the paper/envelope icon at the top of this post) and I will sent the PDFs to you. That way you can learn how to disassemble the leg and determine the real cause. It might be (but I doubt it from the description) the more common problem of the shear pin breaking due to over retraction.

I replaced mine, and it was easy. Venture web page has excellent drawings which make it easy to understand and install.
