Got the state inspection for the first time in 8 years yesterday. TX has always required it, but did not enforce it. But now you cannot renew the registration without proof of current inspection. So I towed it to a local inspection station. Guy checked the lights, good. Checked the tires, good. Looked to see if I had a breakaway switch, good. $7 please. I said do you need to check the brakes? No!
So even though I have current inspection, you just have to take my word that the brakes work.
They had a MH there also. I asked if they drove it for the inspection. No, they just check the lights, tires, wipers, horn. He said that ever since the boss backed a MH into the side of the building, they were not allowed to move large vehicles.
