Big Project

Well as of today we started a Big Project. We are converting our 24' enclosed trailer into a toy hauler camper.

It is a bare bones trailer with no insulation or even a roof vent. So first thing is stripping the walls down and installing 1" Styrofoam board insulation.

Fairly confident we can pull this off and who knows maybe this is the first build of Wilson's RV! You guys know how I feel about the RV mfg. and their lousy build quality and not being willing to listen to ideas on a floor plan.

Our next build may well be from the ground up 5th wheel. I was looking at the 2" foam board today LOL...….

One thing you should think about is how you plan on using the trailer. Are you planning on using RV parks or dry camping. Many RV parks will not allow you to use your trailer or even come in on to the park because you are not RVIA certified. Just food for thought. Google search RV parks requiring RVIA.

I ran into a dude who had converted an enclosed into a livable race trailer.

Basically it was a mobile garage you could sleep in.
He stripped it down, spray foamed it fully then put an interior in. His interior being aluminum sheeting and built in tool boxes.

The spray foam was awesome. We were in 110 degree heat, full sun and he could get the temp to whatever number he wanted on the inside of that trailer off of a 20amp circuit and a single ac unit. Meanwhile we have all the ac units cranked, and struggling to get into the 70's.

I did exactly that to a 20' Interstate Supercoach. LOVED it, didn't have to worry about all the B.S.

I built cabinets, put a sink and 35 gal. water tank, 110V thankless water htr. A wall mounted 110V heater. Apartment size refrigerator and a microwave. 4-5 outlets. 12x12 black vinyl tile floor. Dedicated battery.
Got more looks than my Montana does!

Sofia and I were down in Florida key's 2 years ago and you should have see all of the home built junk that was coming into 5 star camp grounds. If campground are getting there $35.00 a day pay I really don't think there care what comes in.

We saw 2 trailer that were cargo or enclosed auto trailers. One was a goose-neck 5th wheel the other a bumper pull and they were converted to camping trailers. they were there when we got there and still there a week later when we left.
