outside speakers

Hello,

We had a question regarding the tv

Is the tv connected to the surround system in the camper?
We are trying to play a music station from the tv to the outside speakers on the camper. Is that possible and if so how.

Thanks!

The jensen DVD/CD player is what is connected to the speakers. Not the TV

Cant answer your ? since I don't know your unit, but you are likely to get beat up by the music haters out there. ( Not me )There are several threads about outside speakers and some people actually stated they should be banned because your music will disturb everyone else.

My unit did not have outside speakers. I installed a marine system in my unit that has an outside controller and 2 speakers mounted up high on the LR slideout. Without going in the camper I can turn it on and off, volume up and down, change stations and a lot more.

You should have RCA cables going from TV to radio/dvd player. My radio/dvd is a Jensen so yours may be different. I can output radio/dvd or TV to living room, bedroom or outside or any combination of the three by choosing zones A, B or C on the radio/dvd. On radio you also have to choose mode AM, FM or Aux. Choose Aux.
My camper isn't close by so my memory isn't what it used to be. Read your radio manual and it should help.

I don't understand. How does the TV sound get to the speakers without going through the DVD player? I haven't looked at a new unit, but in my admittedly older Montana, the TV is connected to the DVD player via an optical cable. The speakers are connected to the DVD player. When watching a TV show with 5.1 surround sound it comes through the front and rear speakers. I do have to set the DVD to "D.In" (digital input source).

If the normal TV sound gets to the speakers, why wouldn't the sound from an app running on the TV also get there?

Our previous TT we could connect to the outside speakers and that was a 2011. I figured on a 2019 it would be the same....I don’t know...
You got me....

The Jensen TV in the 2019's has a set of RCA audio outputs. You can wire those into the back of the POS Jensen head unit (stereo). There are cover plates hiding the screws on the left and right of head unit. Pull it out and there are RCA audio inputs on the side of it. Put the stereo in rear input mode and it should work if there is audio output from the TV and the selected speakers are on and have the volume set accordingly.

It seems every trailer has an overly complicated lame stereo/receiver/dvd system. Why can't they just put separate components, like you have at home. i.e. TV, surround sound system, separate blueray DVD player, and a separate stereo amplifier. Having it all crammed into a small car head unit is frustrating. Unless you camp without any neighbors, I see the outside speakers more of an annoyance. Better to just bring a little bluetooth speaker like a JBL, if you want to listen to tunes outside. Sorry I'm venting.....lol. I just bought a separate LG BlueRay player for $60.00, and a Polk Sound Bar with a bluetooth subwoofer for $175.00, all from Best Buy. Now it will sound mucho better.

Outside speakers

Your sound system should allow you to select source and then select what speakers you want to output to. We have a 2016 375FL and that is how our system is set up. Most new BLUERAY DVD players should have an hdmi that plugs into tv . They older DVD players that use RCA jacks should also connect to tv. There should be only one output from tv going into sound system. Anything that is played on the Tv should have sound going to sound system

Our system has all the speakers (front tv, bedroom, and outside speakers all going thru the chinas finest amp in the living room. There are 3 buttons to choose which speakers are on. On our first real camping trip to Fredericksburg, we watched a complete two hours of one of the "Star Wars" movies with the outside speakers on. Next day our next door neighbor commented that they enjoyed the show! Ours defaults to the bedroom but I've been planning to change that if I can figure out how to get behind the chinas finest amp.

We have an hdmi arc connection between the tv and Jensen receiver which has 3 output zones 1 of which is the outside speakers. Anything playing on the tv will be input to the Jensen receiver and sent to the speakers.

If you set your receiver to HDMI ARC (ARC stands for audio return channel) then whatever is feeding the TV (satellite, cable TV, Apple TV, etc.) will play through the speaker system in the RV...you probably have 3 speaker sets, each individually adjustable.

On my 2019 Montana the Jensen audio center allows me to feed the sound from the TV to 3 sets of speakers. Zone A is the speakers in the living room, Zone B is the bedroom speakers, and Zone C is the outdoor speakers. The info is in the Jensen manual or available from the internet.

Our previous travel trailer had a Jensen audio system. The television was wired into it with the red, white, and yellow RCA cables, and then the audio system input had to be switched to that input. Then the surround sound and the outside speakers worked with the television.

All was well, until the television died and we went to replace it. We couldn't find a new television anywhere on Planet Earth that still had the old-school RCA out put jacks. We ended up getting a sound bar and had to connect it with the fiber optic cable. The surround from the Jenson was worthless, expecially when DVD's switched to Blue Ray, and later, inrternet streaming.

Our current MHC 5er has a Furrion system. I just hope and pray the television never dies. I doubt another one will ever match the Furrion system.

Outside speakers

Our sound system had 3 speaker options
A - sound bar
B - front & bedroom speakers
C - outside speakers

Not sure if your system is similar to ours.

Put your DVD player on the HDMI ARC setting so that the TV sound is coming through the speakers. Zone A is your living room, Zone B is the bedroom and Zone C is outside. Just make sure to choose Zone C and turn the volume up so you can hear it outside.
