MorRyde steps (4step-in coach) issues

Any one have any issues with their MORRyde steps(4 steps). I understand the struts that allow the steps to be safely pulled down and raised can fail. If the bolt attaching the struts to the steps breaks the steps may fall when pulled and can cause injuries. Greatly appreciate hearing if you had issues with your steps.
Pls advise.

Regards,

DPAM

Yes. Mine broke when pulling them down. Hit me in the arm. Lucky i was not standing in front of it. <6 months old. Called Keystone. Told to take it to a dealer. Emailed Morryde. They sent me new struts and bolts.
I never stand in front of the steps when I open the door or pull down the steps.
When the fail again I will get
Glowsteps. Better product.

If the bolt breaks, maybe a higher grade bolt might help. So far we haven't had any problems, but always a good idea to "stay out of range" when pulling them down in case of a breakage. I actually learned that when we put the original design on the 2013Fl.

Only issue and for us it's a big one. We have a 13 year old bull dog and he has problems getting up and down the step's. We were told about a ramp that I thought would be a good thing. Buster hates it. He will try to go up but going down no way. So I have to lift him in and out of the unit. And that is a problem also because he doesn't like to be picked up. So going out the door with the dog is very interesting.

This thread is very interesting to me. I thought I wanted the MorRyde steps but they have a lot of cons....including not being able to open my trailer in our storage area. With the strut failures it makes you sort of concerned. Told DW to be careful as we kick around.

We have a 14yo golden. Had to bribe her with treats to train her to go up and down the ramp.
We now put leveling blocks under the bottom of the ramp to make it a shallow climb for her.

Sounds like Glowsteps would be a good solution for you

We tried everything from cookies to steaks. He just will not have anything to do with that ramp. I even extended the ramp so it wouldn't be at a steep angle, that didn't work. he just hates it.

Lots of reasons I hate these steps. Next is to put new rivets in as in less than a year originals rusted badly. A fad brought junk.

Our struts failed after using 1.5 years. You can actually purchase Mooryde steps without struts. Ours failed out of no where and caused indent into the flooring. We love the wider steps but added outdoor carpet runner for doggies.’

Our unit is 2 years old and no problems so far. We live in a dry SW climate so very little rust here. There are some small things to watch for such as making the steps low enough before you close the door and rip into the bottom of the door, did that once. Other than that, they are ten times better than the old, black, steel spring board steps.
