Level Up Issues

We have a 2013 3100RL, purchased 12/13. We haven't really had any problems, but the y auto leveling system didn't always seem to work right. Last November, we took it in because it would give a low voltage error, even with a fully charged battery. Sometimes when the cylinders started to move, they would stop and it would make a clattering noise like a solenoid kicking in and out. Our dealer, who I had already lost a lot of faith in, said the problem was low voltage and we needed to add a 2nd battery. We did so to the tune of $375.00, and it worked OK on our next trip except it lost level and we had to recalibrate it. We just finished another trip and it didn't want to work when we left the campground although it had charged for 3 days with both batteries hooked up. When it gives an error the batteries are still fully charged. I checked the ground and it is good, but it took several tries and resetting along with the solenoid kicking in and out again. Now we are out of warranty and Montana probably won't do anything because the dealer didn't diagnose the real problem. Anybody had a similar issue?

Ours works great, one battery. If your battery was actually dying, adding a second new battery was the wrong thing to do. Batteries are always changed in groups as the older one/s will kill new batteries. We check water level on our one battery and keep it topped with distilled water. Sounds like you should take batteries out and take them to a qualified battery dealer to have them load tested. John

Ours works great with one battery. Have not experienced your specific problem. Jcurtis is right on about mixing old and new batteries. Have you talked directly with Lippert customer service? I have found them to be helpful. I would check with lippert, you may still be under warranty with them.

One battery should do it if temps are not too cold (hydraulic fluid getting thicker), but you really should be doing all of your leveling while hooked up to the pedestal and shore power.

Call Lippert. They're easy to work with and will give you a good answer.

One battery, additional cables, battery box, tax, reworking fuse setup, one hour of labor at $110(average CW hourly rate), maybe $375 is expensive, but not too way out of line if a quality battery was installed. Of course that was probably not the cause of the problem.

Does it work properly when connected to shore power? If so, how are you determining that your batteries are fully charged? What voltage does the Level up control panel say? If it does not agree with voltage readings taken at the battery you might have dirty connections?

If you can make it, come to the Fall Rally and set up a Tech meeting with Keystone. Lippert will also be there and can take a look at it. If you can duplicate the issue for them you will be taken care of.

On our last trip of the season last year we began experiencing an issue also. The legs would start and then stop. We would release the button and then press again and they would retract. Had the battery Checked and it was fine. I replaced the two 50 amp self resetting breakers with 80 amp ones and that solved the problem.

Thanks everybody. I do use shore power when I can, I'm having 50AMP service run to my shed so I can have it at home too. We are going to Tennessee Saturday for a week, I'll see how it acts hooked to the pedestal...
