New brakes are on the list TGD

I made my appointment to get my new brakes installed this Tuesday. I will be doing the works, new drums, brake plate with auto adjusters, and new bearings & races, I bought the brake plates about 6 months ago so I wont kill the wallet if you know what I mean. I have quite a few miles racked up on them along with three or four adjustment in the past 10 years. I think there ready.

I was wondering if I should keep the old drums and find a place that turns down both surfaces and store away or just toss them to the steel man that comes around weekly.

For the cost of the drum/hub assemblies, you would be good to just get them turned. Unless you have a fistful of money and plenty of extra space to store them, go ahead and buy all new. When I did a complete brake job a couple years ago, I found a trailer place that turned the drums, brake and magnet surface, for $25 each. You may not be that lucky, and most, if not all automotive shops are not set up to turn the brake surface, so it would be good to call around before starting the project.
