Mounting A Stepladder

When traveling long distance I like to take my 10' aluminum stepladder. I have always just strapped it to the rear Montana ladder but it was kind of hard to hold it up there and fasten it securely. My Montana ladder sort of curves in and out as it goes up, which made it better if the 10' aluminum stepladder was fastened higher up.

I used two galvanized "L" shaped base plates like you would use in a decking application to hold a 4x4 post. I mounted them on the back of my aluminum stepladder, one high on the back and one lower. When I lift the ladder up to the Montana ladder it hooks onto 2 different rungs just right to hold it perfectly. I wrap just a couple straps to secure and it is done.

I have a 16 Foot tubular ladder that is three feet tall when not extended and fits easily into the outside storage. Fathers Day gift. No more ladders strapped on the back of the rig for me. Great idea though, if you are going to go that route.

We have a step ladder , 7ft, that folds up to 4 ins square. We made two metal hangers and fastened them to the metal frame floor supports in the basement. Works great for us.

We use something like this:http://www.amazon.com/Camco-51490-Bl...rv+ladder+hook left over from our TT days and a bungee cord. We carry one of those multi ladders on it.

Wow, if I could find one that folds up to 4 inches square I could carry it around on my key chain! Isn't that like 2" by 2"? I was never very good at math.

That's what I had when we had a 3400RL. It was 4" x 4" and could reach everything I needed to reach...easy to store, too.

Bought it from CW. It is depicted in their website.

The Camping World 6' step ladder that collapses to 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" is probably this one:
http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...p-ladder/20318

I found the ladder to be short for my needs, the steps are too narrow for comfort and it is limited to 225 Lbs of capacity. I have an 8' stepladder from HD hung on the back ladder with the chair rack (shown in DQDICK's post) and a bungie.

I also had the collapsible ladder and found the steps too narrow and since there is no top shelf you have no place to put things. I have an 8 ft. step ladder hanging from a chair hanger like Dick and Carl.

I have the 6 foot double sided step ladder from CW and it works great. Folds up to about 4" square. I mounted a 5" square 7 ft. long plastic fence post to the top of my basement, the ladder slides into it and it holds the ladder nicely and keeps it off the basement floor and out of the way. Always easy to get at whenever I need it.
