New tires for 3150RL
Well it's time to replace the Marathons. I was wondering what tires others have gone with on the 3150RL. I know you guys have a lot of knowledge and experience floating around out there. I have been leaning toward the BFG Commercial TA's, but want to make sure I make the right decision. Thanks in advance.

The BFG Commercial T/A is a very good load range E tire. I've sold and installed many of them on trailers of all kinds. The one I recommend the most though, is the one CORattler is referring to, the Bridgestone Duravis R250. It's an all steel tire where the BFG has polyester and nylon sidewalls. The Michelin XPS Rib is another great all steel tire.
A word of caution, make sure you purchase tires capable of carrying the weight of your trailer. If you don't know what your trailer weighs on the axles, fully loaded, and hooked to the tow vehicle, you should get it weighed. Most large truck stops have a truck scale where you can weigh the rig.

I have scaled the truck and trailer, and will be within the capacity of all of the tires mentioned above. It just seems like most of us are probably close to the upper limits of capacity with an E rated tire. I always seem to go overboard when it comes to safety and my trailer, but can't bring myself to pay out the nose for a reputable G rated tire. I will check out the the R250's. Thanks again for all of the advice and suggestions. I still can't believe that a forum exists that is a helpfull and welcoming as this one.

I put Bridgestone Duravis on my '14 3150RL. A all steel tire, weighs 59 lbs and is speed rated @ 101 mph.
My decision was based on wanting a all steel tire. Others only have steel in the tread area. (I think) The 614 Goodyear is a all steel tire, I just did not need that much tire.

Just purchased a 2014 Montana High Country 318RE and had the dealership upgrade from Marathon E tires to G tires. I had told them that I liked Goodyear G614, but they put on Gladiator and the tire dealer told them that Gladiator was rated better than the G614s. Does anyone have experience with Gladiator tires and how they might hold up? If so I would love to hear.

Another cheep off shore ST tire. There is a F and G rated tire. The F rated tire is $99 and the G is $114. If the dealer was paying for the upgrade they put the cheapest tire they could find. IF you asked just for a G rated tire OK.
Yes, the ratings are higher than a G614, but there was a very lengthy discussion a few weeks back about how the ratings are determined, you might read thru that thread.
They both weigh 40 lbs. A G614 weighs about 59 lbs. The Marathon's you took off weighed 37 lbs. Looks to me like you took off a China Bomb and replaced it with a tire weighing 3 lbs more with Made in China on the side of it.
I would go back and DEMAND a G614 IF I wanted a G rated tire.
However, a High Country 318RE is not a heavy trailer and they may serve you well. A different option would be a all steel LT tire, while not rated as high as the Gladiators might be a better option.
I could not stand to be speed limited to 65mph as all ST tires would be. (the G614 is rated for 75mph)(my Duravis are 101mph)

If you read a few posts back we have a member who is a tire dealer for 30+ years and would never put a ST tire on his personal trailer.
Enjoy that new trailer.

Here's an article with some good info about LT vs ST tires on trailers.
