Uh oh Carol, time for a new tow vehicle It's just about the right time of the year to be thinking of ways to start asking Santa...

I use the tow/haul mode whenever I am towing or hauling because...well...I'm either towing or hauling

I use it whenever I tow, but turn it off when going down steeper grades. I find that the tranny always wants me to come to a complete stop. To remedy this I keep the exhaust brake on and manually down shift.

I use it when I tow...wouldn't be without it for all the reasons stated before. Love the new truck!

The only problem with tow mode is it doesn't come on automatically when hitched to the trailer!

I read somewhere on one of the truck forums to use it when the transmission can't make up it's mind what gear to stay in, hilly or mountainous terrain. I've also seen where some recommend selecting your gears manually. My last tow (first tow since adding the tuner) I stayed out of tow/haul and shifted manually. I haven't installed the EGT sensor yet. I much preferred the performance of the Ebrake that way. Long climbs were more comfy also. BTW I pulled from Telluride through Mancos to near Durango (SW Colorado), 7000 to 11000 ft elevation range.

We use the Tow/Haul everytime we tow the 5er or anything else. Ive never had it hunt for gears, it rarely down shifts as well, as it doesnt seem to need to. We set it on cruise and it goes up and over the overpasses and bridges without problem.

I also used it on some of the motor trails in TN. Lots of slow, down hill runs for a few miles.

I don't use tow /haul except when towing in steep terrain. I manually shift using the paddle shifter and control the braking acceleration that way. This works great fo me!!

Allison is a tow/haul machine. Best part of my truck by far.

When towing, tow haul is always engaged.

When towing why would you not use it?

Always use Tow haul when towing. I remember the first time I exited on a steep ramp off I 79 in West Va and the Allison down shiffted.

What a great feeling of having control of your coach, since then I have always used tow Haul.

As a side note when I changed trans fluid I went with Transynd recommended by Allson

I've quit using my 05 Ram (no exhaust brake) Tow Haul recently as on Cruise Control it extended the downshifts and High RPM duration a lot on the slight inclines or hills we encounter in AL and most surrounding areas to the South and West.
Am I hurting my transmission towing 12-13K lbs without it?
