where are the MOCers?!?!?!

We have had our 2006 "Casa" for 5 1/2 yrs and been on the MOC for at least 4. We started long timing last summer and have seen Montanas on the road and in campgrounds, but have never met a fellow MOCer at these parks! Of course, we stay mainly in the Thousand Trails/NACO, Outdoor World system, but really....where is everyone?!?!?

Dave, I was thinking the same thing the other day. Do you have your MOC # on the front or back of your trailer, I'm always looking for that or a MOC licence frame.

I was in Oregan last week and the guy near mine saw my MOC# and came over to say he was a new member. You got to let others know you belong.
Hope you meet some soon.

Right you are! Even I am not psychic!
I do try to talk to every Montana owner when the opportunity arises.

Right now there is a Big Sky to my left (he's a member, but not active) and a 3150 to my right (not a member and doesn't care to be one). I think that a majority of members are full timers or long timers, with a few weekenders thrown in. I think most of what we see on the road are the weekenders who use their rigs a few holiday weekends and maybe a 1 or 2 week vacation during the year. This is just my opinion and observation.

Do you wear your MOC T shirt and Hat every day when you are out scouting for MOC'ers?

Hey! We're right here in Land O Lakes! With us, you will never find us in Thousand Trails/NACO or Outdoor World, so maybe that's why. When in state, we tend to do Florida State Parks or Disney or Ft Desoto. Out of state we trend towards state parks as well, when we can, and some private CGs as well. Might change that a bit next year if we do indeed head west. However, everyone here is right. We need to bite the bullet and introduce ourselves when out in the world.

First...it is Joanie who does all the posting!! I am the secretary for the family. When we get to a campground the first thing we do is look for other Montanas and I go up to each and everyone and ask if they are MOC. We also have the MOC bumper sticker on the Casa. @Washley1..We use the Thousand Trails at Clermont near Disney and LOVE FT DeSoto. When we come back in Oct I hope we can get together. We are in Sun City Center so about 45 minutes away. My point was that every other Montana owner I approach is not a member and most haven't even heard about it. I always give the website and explain how great the info and friendships are here. Just never found a fellow MOCer on the road...just saying

Looking at your map, how did you pull your Big Sky to Hawaii.

We have a MOC bumper sticker on both the front and back of our Montana. So, if you see that, knock on the door!

At first we always knocked on the door of any Montana in the CG we were in. Mostly we got friendly people but we got just enough rude responses over the years that rarely do we do that now. If we see someone outside we'll stop to chat but otherwise we don't. Maybe we should.

We would welcome other MOC'ers knocking on our door.

Someone asked in another thread about getting the rig on a ferry...actually, we put every place we have been on the map, not just with the rig. Is that cheating? I actually need to go back an d change it anyway, as we have not been to ND, and it got hit.

Casa, I have been working at TopSail for 2 months checking campers in and there have been more Montana's come through the gate than I have counted but I always ask if they are Moc'ers. I have yet to find the first one unless one came through when I was off duty. Thing that gets me is they don't seem to have much interest. Oh well I guess it makes us that are Moc'ers more special.

Indy...that is what I am most puzzled at is the lack of interest in knowing about the MOC! I tell them how helpful it can be and the links, friendships, rallies, etc. I get such a lukewarm response sometimes that I feel like giving up asking....but...I don't give up that easily!!

Joanie, will you and Dave be going to the Tampa show in Jan? If so maybe we can organize a mini-rally. We'll be in the Tampa area (Holiday) in early Nov, then over to our winter spot in Fort Pierce till mid-April, so we'll probably come over for the show. What do you think?

Michelle and Ann...yes, we go to the Tampa RV show every year. We live about 15 miles south of the fairgrounds. We would love to plan a mini-rally somewhere for that period of time. Let me get together with Dave and see what we can come up with. There are a lot of MOCers that go to the RV show. I know most are ensconced at various campgrounds, but maybe they might want to move for a few days. I'll post something within a week or so and ask at the rally in Goshen. Great suggestion!!

Joanie, we'll have to touch base at the Rally (this will be our first).

Michelle and Ann, the RV show is awesome. The MOCers get together for a group pic on one of the days and some go out to either dinner after or breakfast before. It is one of the largest RV shows in the country. What campground in Holiday? will you be there thru Jan when the Tampa show is on?

Joanie, nope, we'll be at the Holiday Travel Park in early Nov (Daughter lives in Holiday) then on the 15th we move across the state to Treasure Coast RV Resort in Fort Peirce (res are from 15 Nov to 15 Apr), but we still plan on making trips out of there so coming back over for the show won't be a problem. All the best

Careful, he may have an army friend with access to a Chinook with mid air refueling capacity, maybe.
