OKKK, how long is this train when you hook up a TV as well??? From the looks of it, he has to be over the legal length in about 99% of the states. GULP

Now think about it! Is that frame stronger or is the owner just plain STUPID?

Well I think we have had a view of this many a time usually it is a 21 ft boat. Met a guy at a dealership and we got into this conversation about this type of activity. Well as I expressed my concern for these types of situations he expressed his too. Just happened to be a MN Highway patrolman and informed me that the state of MN was seriously looking at enforcing the rules and expected any day they would be pulling these violators over. Problem is for us is once the accident report is filed and it is found this type of violation is involved who knows what could happen. I have doubled in the past and believe that it can be done safely as long as you follow the rules. As younger working fulltimers I am willing to pay the extra for the second tow vehical. I happen enjoy my bike and tools to much to give up besides never know when I can use them to help a fellow fulltimer.
But for those few have reckless abandondedment using no common sense...
Ahhhhh such is life.............
Remember the..........

I am one that feels that towing a second trailer is unsafe regardless of brand.
Commercial truck drivers with a CDL and tandem trailer license are specially trained for pulling dual trailers. I'm sorry but most RVers are just getting by when pulling a single trailer. For all in intent and purpose we are tractor trailer drivers on a bit smaller scale with little or no training. Just buying a 5th wheel and a tow vehicle does not qualify us as tractor trailer drivers and an untrained driver adding another trailer regardless of size in my opinion is just plain crazy.
If anyone is pulling a second trailer I want that rig in front of me and not behind me for two reasons..
#1- If he can't stop that combo I don't want that fool running into me.
#2- Lorraine nor I have never seen an accident like we quit possibly are about to see.

Don't look at that accident, Glenn, you'll be tied up for days as witnesses, writing statements, giving statements, filling out forms, making reports and other governmental requirements. If it's about to happen just close your eyes..."No Sir, Officer, didn't see a thing."

Let's see,
It's legal to triple tow in more than 35 states, but its illegal to speed in all 50 states.
Are all that triple tow and remain within the laws, stupid? And are all that speed and thus break the law, not stupid?
I wonder how many MOC members have never exceeded the speed limit?

Rick, I got a little ticked off too when I read some of the above posts, but only for a second. In all reality the statement about most RV'rs not being qualified or trained to pull 2 trailers is true. The key word in the statement is most. I am, and I'm sure several others are, trained, qualified, and licensed for triple towing.I will continue pulling 2, as I have done for years, until it becomes illeagle. That being said, sign me up on the stupid list.

I have my CDL,(Class A interstate, Hazmat, tanker, passenger and motorcyle). I considered pulling a trailer with Tara's volvo loaded, but we were too long for CA. I guess that puts me on the stupid list too.
Here's a question for the forum, how many out there that think pulling doubles is unsafe actully have a CDL. Maybe there should be a RV endorsement. If you don't pass, you don't pull. steve

It isn't stupid if you know what you are doing. Unfortunately many RVer's see the qualified doing it and think they can do it just because they saw it being done. That is where the danger is. I can't tell you how many times while traveling I have seen this going on and the accidents it caused. It is dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. If you have the license and are qualified then that is what makes all the difference in the world!

Kathi, That is exactly what I was trying to say. If you have the qualifications than go for it. If your TV has the capacity, power and the braking for towing such a load than go for it. If not than don't do it.
As far as being legal in 35 states has nothing to do with it. Just because it's legal does not qualify anyone for anything. It is legal to jump out of an airplane, it is also legal to bungee jump but would you do it without the proper training or equipment??? I think not.
No, I do not have a CDL at least not any more.
