Any one see the new front of Mountaineer??

Friends of ours went to a Michigan RV show and saw the new front, they were not impressed. If it is one that is like a prototype that Al and I saw last summer, we would agree, not impressed.

Wonder if anyone else has seen one??

Before you start asking! the prototype we saw reminded us of the front of a Zeplin (not sure I spelled that correctly).

that is not the prototype we saw, on the TT, that is MUCH better looking than the one we saw. Maybe the one we saw did not make the cut???

Yep, saw the new front at the RV Show in Rochester. It's different, but, in my opinion, not bad looking. It appears they want to consolidate behind the Montana brand name and make Mountaineer a sub-line, which makes sense from a marketing point of view.

I would have to agree (not impressed) ... the ones I've seen here at the Kansas and Oklahoma RV shows have the stepped front cap for more clearance on the short bed trucks with a trapezoid shaped mirror in the middle. The Mountaineer or Cougar, I can't recall, also has a cargo light on each of the lower corners .... Reminds me of the movie "JAWS"! I bought a Montana 2980RL about this time last year and am glad I did because I just can't see that cap with a mirror situated in the middle hooked onto my truck. Maybe they could just loose the mirror and cargo lights ??? Don't get me wrong, everyone has their own tastes, ... I know all the upcoming new owners will enjoy their purchase no matter what front cap it has on it.

I just bought one, a 2955RL. The new cap is supposed to be more aerodynamic and shortbox friendly. I could do without the mirror, though.

We just came back from an RV show and saw the a '06 Mountaineer TT. Keystone has done away with the fiberglass front end cap and has gone back to Al. Really makes the TT look cheap. Didn't like it. Glad I got my '03 315RLS!

The front we saw back last summer on the Mountaineer TRAVEL TRAILER (Not a 5er!!) reminded us of the one on the Zepplin, here is a URL:

Is that what you saw Steve??

I have not sen any of the 2006 models with the new badging, but from the pictures that Montana Sky posted it looks like the mountainscapes are missing. If so that would be a shame; let's face it, the units are carrying the Montana name and are "Mountaineers," so a mountainscape would seem to be in order...

My 2006 2955 is the "old" front cap and I'm kind of glad we purchased ours last fall. Like someone said earlier, to each their own.

The fiberglass cap on the front was one of the reasons we chose the Mountaineer Travel Trailer. The cap makes for more expensive looking unit and also provides a measure of protection from water infiltration. I'm with Steve and Sharon, I'm glad we bought our 2003 335 RLBS.

pic of the 2006 TT moutaineer we just purchased a 335RLBS model in January and now looking for a TV. We had a 28 fooot Prowler regal TT before and really cannot say we didn't find the front attractive. Having the batteries and LP out of the way on a TT is a plus to me for looks. We work as gate attendants at a Federal Park in PA and live in it 41/2 months. The room in the TT with slides is a plus to me. My wife has a bad back so the level floor plan suits her. I plan on getting a Henley Arrow to tow with as well as the new TV.............Mac~

There is a Brand of Trailer called a Heartland which the Dealer who sold me my 3500RL now carries. I believe this Trailer is made by Keystone because ot uses the same Model numbers as the Monty.

One of features of the Trailer is a walk in front bedroom closet. I wonder if the front cap design had to altered to accomodate this? I agree that the new design does not look as nice.

Color me different. I kinda like the new Mountaineer front cap. We saw a couple coming towards us on the road and I liked it.

Being the proud owner of an '04 305FKS with the indented fibre-glass front cap - we'll keep it!

I like the new cap look with the hidden tanks and batterys, but being a lifelong propane user - I like my tanks outside. I know the probability of leaks or other problems is minimal - I still feel much safer with the vents outside the coach. Also, I have had the tanks cover stolen once, but generally no problem.

Anyway, what ever shape the front cap - still a great product that we look forward to enjoying a long time!

Pretty sure the propane compartment on the Mountaineer TT will be like the Fivers and have the bottom open to atmosphere. This makes the neat looking compartment just as safe as the tanks on the front and IMO, much more tidy looking. I like that new front on the Mountaineer TT.

I just went over to the KeystoneRV website to see the Mountaineer Travel Trailer picture in their brochure. http://keystone-mountaineer.com/ This picture does not show hidden LP tanks. It does show that there is no Gel-Coat front cap like the older models had. Now I'm confused as to what the new models really look like. Do they look like this or like the ones in jobi67s links? I like the hidden tanks as it gives a cleaner look to the front of the coach.

According to our RV dealer, the Mountaineer TT with the hidden propane tanks like the one referenced from jobi67 is really a 2005 or a VERY early 2006. The current 2006 are like the ones referenced by fulltimedreamer on the Keystone homepage.

I'm kind of reminded of ties. You know, thse things we used to have to wear when we were gainfully employed. They went to narrow then wide and back to narrow again. I never could figure out why. I just kept my wide ones -- especially those that said Harley Davidson or some such and sufferred through the narrow periods. I found if you got one with a red white and blue motiff no body dared question it. I think people are real fun to watch.
