I notice you now have the 6.7 engine. Does it get significantly better milage?
I guess "significant" differs depending on your definition, but I can't make a true comparison. I also changed trailers from a 12,000 lb. 2955 to a 15,500 lb. 3700. With the new combination I am getting 10 MPG while in the mountains and fighting headwinds and 11-12 towing on the flats. Add in the extra power and torque, the much less obtrusive re-gens (a much improved process in this series) and it is safe to say I am "significantly" pleased with my 6.7L.

When we hand calculate which is not often....
And that might be the difference between our observations. I have been told (and I haven't ever verified) that the fuel used for the re-gen process is *NOT* counted in the MPG calculation. With your infrequent re-gens (I consistently re-genned every 100-125 miles when towing) you could have done the measurements when there were no re-gens occurring. I would then expect the numbers to match closely.

But I have the numbers for 65K miles (spread sheets are wonderful) and there is a significant difference.

I agree with the fuel used during regens and that would alter the numbers greatly if hand calculated and a regen or two is included if the reegens are not included in the on board fuel calculations. Don't know how that would work but I am no expert. We just did a hand calculation, not towing, last week because I suspected that we are for some reason getting better MPG on the truck, Did 200 miles between fills and the difference hand vs on board PC
was the on borad Pc was .4mpg better. We have seen the MPG drop on the on board Pc to as low as 5MPG when in tow on a hard pull during regen and stay there for 15 or 20 mins. That would hurt the avg MPG number

8-9 MPG is about normal. Hills or wind just start looking for a truck stop. 12-14 empty and that's about all you're going to get.

OK thanks. That's very close to what I get. I do not think I will be able to justify moving up to a 6.7 just to gain 2 or possibly 3 MPG. I'll just keep feeding this one. I did take it to the dealership for the first time today and got all updates taken care of. We will see if this helps a little.

16-17 mpg combination stop/go and highway not towing. Highway only, not towing as much as 24 mpg. Last trip north from FL (around 1800 miles) avg 11.5 mpg. There is a difference in how you drive and what results you can expect to receive.

Have you done any modifications such as exhaust/chips? That's impressive mpg's.

No MODs...just very light on the accelerator. I keep the MPG info showing all the time and am always aware of what's going on with the turbo and rpm gauge. Take no pride in the MPGs we experience and don't care that we get passed on the highway...a lot! Since we pay for the fuel we use, I like the results we have experienced by useing a light touch on the pedal.

I have read that a programmer increases mileage by up to 5 MPG. That is not what I have found. I see a mile or 2 difference. My lie-o-meter will say 18 when I,m getting about 14.

CamillaMichael, if you're getting 24 mpg out that 2010 you better keep it forever. I couldn't put mine on a trailer and haul it and get 24 out of it. My mpg empty and my mpg loaded wouldn't even add up to 24. That's why I went to the 2011.

I'm for the light touch on the pedal to help with milage and that does not mean always going slow. Once I have bought the truck and the money is gone, the only thing to watch are the changes, and for that the lie-o-meter does well. Just today received a call from our local Ford store service mgr asking about our milage and my responce was mostly 17 to 18 not towing and depending on wind direction mostly 10 to 12 towing.
