I'm a FLASHER !!!
Oh wait,

I do flash my lights even though I dont even have a Monty yet. So they probably just think I'm wierd or that there is a cop up ahead.

We alway flash our lights, if we have seen the other Montana in time, otherwise, we wave profusely! The one time we had a flash back was with Bill & Helen (adelmoll) in Leavenworth, WA. It proved to be a wonderful experience to meet our (First) MOC's, soon after joining the MOC. Like Helen said earlier, it really is worth it! We still keep in touch via email now and again.

We spent the last week traveling from Topeka down through Missouri, Arkansas, Tenn and Mississippi. We passed twenty two MONTANA'S traveling in the other lane. WE FLASHED everyone. Not one flashed back. We will keep on flashing - someone soon will return the flash. At which time I shall slam on the brakes. run to the basement and get out the bottle rockets and fire as many as I can ha ha

left omaha,ne 06/24/06 for alaska trip, returned home 08/31/06; flashed MONTY'S when i saw them & not once did i get a return flash; oh well it was fun anyway, did get a few hand waves.trip was GREAT, but wouldn't take a caravan again; it's a planned trip & u have to be at places at a specified time. going with a couple friends is nice, then u can set your own itinerary, stop when u want & stay at a place for awhile or move on to another.

We also flash and wave - twice have gotten a flash back - last time was on I-80 coming back from the rally to PA (no flashers coming back to NM from PA) but no response to postings. We even do it not towing whether in truck or SUV. We are now home for winter so anyone coming through Albq. give us a shout.

Safe travels.

I am no longer a Montaineer owner (still checking in on the forum for those yummy recipes though) but we flash any Montana we see anyway. We have never been flashed back though. I will keep flashing and waving anyway - just being friendly!

We were on I-10 traveling west from Deming, NM to Casa Grande, AZ on Friday. Saw three Montanas traveling east--flashed all three but no flash back. Ever since the forum got us to flashing other Montanas, we have never had anyone flash at us.

I've been flashing when I have time for the past three years - about 20,000 miles of towing. Never seen a flashback. But, I think RichFAA is on to the answer. If we have 6400 members it is unlikely that more than 5% flash. As a point of comparison, I think I know most of the regular posters by name and I'm sure this old brain wouldn't remember more than a few hundred. If there are on the order of 30,000 Montanas out there and only 300 or so flash then the expected return is only 1 in a 100 at best. The odds of getting four in a row would be equivilant to the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot. Who knows, maybe there's a game in there somewhere...

Folks, it all boils down to reaction time. By the time you see if it's a Montana, flash your lights, they are almost side by side, the other driver really doesn't have time to flash you, that's why you get waves, or smiles, but no flashes.
I flash at all who even look like a Montana in the distance get many waves.
