Well...it happened!

Yep, about ten miles out of town, with the family on our way to a week vacation at the beach and "bang". China bomb exploded on curbside threatening to ruin our vacation. (picture 1) It was a Sunday and AAA said a minimum of three hour wait and McCarthy tire wasn't sure if they could help. I had a five year old granddaughter that I was not going to disappoint so we cobbled together all of our RV legos and was able to lift the tire enough to get it changed. However, not only had the blowout shredded the tinfoil , it had also blown the hydraulic hose out of my Level up jack and broke the cast aluminum top piece. (picture 2) Long story short, we limped to the beach and had a mobile mechanic replace the jack and had a great week.

I know many of you have been through this and Trekwood tells me the sheet aluminum for my 2016 3000re is no longer available. What is the best source for the replacement of this skirt and plastic fender? Anybody aware of a source for the cast aluminum top piece for this 8K jack? I have already contacted Lippert and they say NO.

I would cut off the crumpled metal and take whatever straight piece is left to a sheet metal fab shop and see if they could bend a piece to that same contour. As for the jack, I’m guessing Lippert wants to sell you a whole new jack. Look for a manufacturers name on the jack and see if you can find a dealer for them. A hydraulic repair shop may be able to get the top piece for you or point you in the right direction.

Just happened to my neighbors Montana, which is several years older than yours......$5K for the repair. Go through insurance if you have it. His was up and repaired in 1 week and looks perfect. I wish I could help you for a shop, but I'm in southern California. I personally went through the same thing on my 2007 Jazz 5th wheel........20 minutes into the drive and I thought a vacation was ruined. I was able to change the tire and go on our way. That bill back then was $3K for the sheet metal, paint and ext..

And you can likely get an OEM fender from Treckwood or a generic fender from most RV Parts Vendors on line.

Did the front part in front of the steps. The wood box cost more than the part. 1200 all together with a shop. Doing it. Looks like new./
Wood box to ship part.

That happened to me it was 6000.00 to fix. Insurance company sued the tire manufacturer and got them to reimburse them for the repairs and my deductible.

So sorry to hear of this. I've been thru this with other brands also. It did happen to my Montana also. Insurance did cover it. But FYI any good RV service shop will be able to get you replacement parts. Maybe not glamping world. But a genuine RV repair dealer. They will also work with your ins co and you should get your Monty back without an issue.

Blow out

I had an Alfa Gold the had a few blow outs. One took out the shock and a large piece of the shackle holding it. That much rubber, 55mph can be a deadly combination. Happy you are safe

We learned early on that the OEM tires meet the minimum specs and they are not reliable. We ordered our 13 3402 with G614 tires and have since replaced them with another set after 5 years.
