New A/C electrical

I have ordered a new low profile A/C unit for the front bedroom area of our 2007 Montana 3500RL. I checked with Keystone and they informed me that the pre-wire for a new unit is not there. Does anyone have any pictures or hints/ideas of running the electrical feed from the unit through the ceiling to the entry closet so I can drop it down to electric panel. So far, I know it needs a 12-2 wire run for power supply. Any help will be appreciated.

My 2007 3075RL was prewired. Is there a blank outlet cover near the bedroom vent? If so, remove that cover and look to see if there are any wires there. Mine had wires for power, but not for the thermostat. So we just use it stand alone to cool the bedroom when needed.

I'm with BB TX, I would take a close look up there, you probably have the wiring up there

The Montana's are all wired for a forward A/C unit. Our 2008 and our friends 2007 both were wired for A/C. If there is a plate ahead of the bedroom vent that is where the wiring is for the A/C.

There was a time when wiring for front A/C was an option and I believe the 2007 models fall into this category as our 2008 did. It will probably depend on how the unit build sheet was done. I doubt Keystone took the time to look it up when you contacted them.

As others have advised, take the time to personally examine your Monty and see for yourself if the wiring is there.

You could also check your breaker box and see if a breaker is there for a second A/C.

Well, I looked and looked and found no wiring for the new A/C unit. Here is how I ran my new wiring. First take the lower liner off vent. Next drop the ceiling light and fish the first run of wire from vent to light wiring hole. You may have to enlarge the wiring hole. Next take the lower liner off the bathroom vent, now fish the wire from the ceiling light to the vent area. You may need help with this part aligning the fish to the vent. Now the tricky part. fishing the wire to the inside of the upper kitchen cabinet. Make a couple of ceiling holes in the upper toilet room cabinet, fish wire there. Now drill a couple of holes in ceiling in upper kitchen cabinet and fish wire there. Now drill 1" holes through shelving in right rear corner about 3" from side wall. Run wire through and use wire staples to secure wiring in cabinet. After drilling last lower shelf, drill 1/2" hole through floor and Wha-La, your are in the belly of the beast. Run the wire to circuit panel and your done, except for cleaning the mess. Now use a blank electrical cover plate to cover ceiling holes. Oh yes, make sure you use 12-2 wire with a ground for the amperage. Hope this helps the next installer. I saved $155 doing it myself.
