I had some drips on one of the landing gear jacks. Inside I saw what looked like hydraulic fluid near the connection. I was advised to tighten the hydraulic connection and keep the hydraulic O-ring gasket clean and lubricated.

Tightening the fitting was a one-time thing, but keeping the O-ring clean needs to be a regular maintenance item. I first learned about doing this from a fellow RV-er who was a retired jet aircraft mechanic. Airplanes are full of hydraulic systems so I figured he was an expert. He recommended spraying the hydraulic piston rod with silicone, concentrating on the top at the O-ring, and wiping it down with a clean paper towel. Every time you raise the jacks you are essentially squeegeeing off the dirt and dust on the rod, creating a challenge or the O-ring to maintain a good seal. I have been doing this periodically, and especially after having the jacks down for an extended time.

Afterwards I did not see any more hydraulic fluid leakage or drips.

I typically do similar thing while breaking down camp. I use a clean rag sprayed with silicone spray to wipe down the rod, the I spray the rod with PTFE Dry Lube to lubricate the o-ring seals. The PTFE does not attract dirt and dust like silicone spray.
