Bathroom Skylight
Is it detrimental to have Reflexit velcroed to the frame of the window inside the shower? Will heat reflection cause the plastic to warp? While parked I have Reflexit covering the skylight all the time. Thanks for any advice!

Not sure about your question but I put a couple layers of small-bubble bubble wrap between the inner and outer shower skylight and that really works to reduce the heat build up. I know for sure this technique will not harm the skylight.

We wanted some light and not all the direct sun so we put stained glass like window tinting on the inside piece and a piece of bubble wrap between the two that covers about 2/3 of the window. Again, this won't hurt it.

Thanks for the info! Do we have to go from the rook down to place the bubble wrap of shower up? Having trouble seeing how to do it from the shower side.

There should be a number of screws on the inside part of the skylight. 6 or 8 of them. Just take them out and the thing will come off.

There are several that have done what we have done: We thoroughly cleaned the top of the bathroom/shower skylight and then spray painted the outside of the skylight with gloss white Krylon paint. We added a stained glass look film to the top of the inside skylight. We now look up and see a nice stained glass appearance and by spray painting the outside of the skylight we drastically cut down the amount of heat coming in but still have lots of light.

We put a piece of old sheeting between the inner and outer skylight. Lets in plenty of light, and no issues for 10 years or so. Work from the inside, it’s a lot easier.

I taped a piece of Reflectic to the inside of the skylight. It works well and has stood up to 110* Las Vegas and 100* Texas heat as well as 3 summers in the direct 90+* sun of NY and New England. We also have window and slide end panels made up and occasionally use when it gets really hot. On the windows, the temps are a minimum of 10* cooler as measured with a laser temp gauge

Thanks everyone! We took the bubble cover off, covered it with window tinting and placed bubble wrap between the layers. Looks great and much less heat coming through.

Here is what I did with some ceiling fan insulators and some picture wire (see attachment). Works really well.

Cindy, I went to an auto parts store and purchase a can of paint they carry that is used by auto buffs to darken the taillight lenses. I removed the inner dome and cleaned it up good with glass cleaner and some alcohol wipes to clean it up even more. I then sprayed it with a light coat of the paint and let it dry. I then sprayed it with another light coat let it dry and remounted the inner dome. It looks like clouds and reduces the heat and light coming in through the shower dome. See you in Goshen!
