Visible SIM and Wineguard 1000

Just wondering if anyone had tried the Visible Mobile 'sim' card in the Wineguard 1000 router?.. i'd like to use the wineguard as it's intgrated into the monty... but not at the expense of high monthly payments for data.

I can't tell you if it will work for sure or not. My experience is similar, though. I have the Winegard 360+. I connected the 4G antenna wires to a Verizon Hot Spot. My mobile plan is actually Xfinity. But since Xfinity uses Verizon's network I gave it a shot. I put the Xfinity SIM into the Verizon Hot Spot connected to the Winegard antenna and it works just fine.

It should work just fine. I use a T-Mobile hotspot, which is no different than using the Visible hotspot. Love it. I keep all my devices, Fire Stick, Alexa, Smart Plugs and Blink camera connected to my Winegard SSID. Makes it convenient.

seems to me that if visible uses the tmobile network.. it should be fine.. i'll run some testing prior to drilling holes in the celing of my new 3121..

oh.. and why would i need an on / off switch.. i see 'others' installing them.

Ron, Visible is on the Verizon network. I am using an actual hotspot, not SIM card. It runs $50/month for 100 gb. You have the option on the Winegard to use a SIM or WiFi. (WiFi and hotspot work the same). Hope this helps.

Yes, I searched for one that had the external antenna connections. I don't remember which model I got and it's in the covered trailer so can't get a quick look. I also wanted one that required a SIM card so I could use Xfinity. I had to do some searching to figure out which adapters I needed to get from the Winegard antenna to the hot spot.

It's not as robust as a much more expensive, higher end solution but it does a pretty good job giving us access to the internet. There are some areas where the signal is just bad but that's how it goes. If we were full timers I would likely invest in a stronger system.

Edit: I believe it's the Verizon Jet pack NETGEAR AC791L. Do a search for that model

Following this thread for information. The Keystone page for the 4G LTE and Wifi Prep page links to the Winegard page for data plan information. The Keystone page doesn't mention Tmobile,
https://www.keystonerv.com/innovations/4glte-wifi-prep
but the Winegard page does.
https://winegard.com/plans/cellular-data/t-mobile

So, I suspect that Tmobile will work with the Winegard gateway.

What I'm balancing in my head for Tmobile is that for $30/month more on my 55+ cell phone plan I can get 40GB of 4G LTE hot spot data (current hotspot plan is 2G). I'm comparing that to the 50GB of 4G LTE data for $50/month on the gateway. I'm leaning towards the hotspot (cheaper). The only reason for me to go the gateway route is because the built-in antenna on the roof may get me better service than a phone hot spot inside the trailer. Pro's and con's either way. I may try the hotspot first and see how that works. I know the Tmobile 2G hotspot connection has been spotty at best while at state parks (off the beaten path), so getting 4G LTE data when I can't get a signal wouldn't help. Makes me wonder how much difference there is between a cell phone signal and gateway signal (with the roof antenna) on the same carrier (in this case Tmobile).

tmobile uses the '71' band in the 600mhz range which is less power, but reaches further.. say 4-6 miles from tower.

They do throttle to only 5MB. If you can access the settings in the Wineguard you can change them to allow for more throughput (faster speeds).
