Well, the tail whip got me
Pulling out at a truck stop in Mass and had thought I had it cleared. I pulled up to the sidewalk and even rode the sidewalk, well, I guess not far enough. Any ideas on what we're looking at? out of pocket or file a claim with the insurance?
not sure why the pic is uploading sideways, how can I fix that?

Mike,
Cost will be driven by if they need to pull the cap off. A friend had something similar and it was about $4500.
Are you loading your pics via a computer or phone? It is much easier with a computer - make sure the pictures you take are wider than tall (use landscape vs portrait).

I nicked one end of mine, and a car mirror whacked my other side (I was stopped) and they kept going. I was able to get the J trim (that plastic trim that wraps around the end and the side (up and down), and then goes under. I got 2 pieces and cut them to length.
Meanwhile, the metal under that got crumpled. I was able to bend most of that out. It's still a little wrinkled, but some spray paint, and replacing the lense on the rear bottom running lights, a lot of Liquid Nails to seal everything back up, and fix fix some broken plywood on the one side, and I just kept camping.
I figure someday, I'll clobber something substantial.... THEN I'll turn it into my insurance and get the whole back end fixed.

Rotated pictures are a common problem here. Here is some information on why this occurs and how to correct it.

I did something similar pulling out of storage and caught mine on a steel column. But more damage than what you have. About $14,000. $500 deductible for me. But they had to pull the rear cap and do some fiberglass repair work on it that added significantly to the costs.
Before and after repair in pics below.

Use landscape vs portrait for your pics. It should also work to crop your portrait pic to turn it into landscape.

Lets see if this works:
I'm actually more worried about the dealer causing more damage and not repairing it correctly.
(had to get some gorilla tape to hold it in place on the way home)

I did that oops too back in January and thru Progressive the repair was about $2,200. We had the 5th wheel repaired at Affinity. Needed a new J panel, clearance light, and bumper.

I was pulling out of storage and clipped another trailer. Turned it into insurance because the quote was over $7000.00 they had to replace the end cap and lower corner panel on the side because of damage that they couldn't do fiberglass repair on. So depending on how badly damaged the end cap is will dictate the price. I took it to the dealer for the repair work, but I knew auto body places can also do the work as long as they can do fiberglass repair.

Hard to tell from the photograph what I am looking at. File a claim with your insurance company and let their clam adjuster find you an RV shop that does collision repairs and can get you scheduled without a long wait. Could be a lot more than you think based on my experience clipping the side of a cliff on an extermely narrow secion of highway along the California coast last year. Good luck and get that trailer back on the road!!

Hearing all the horror stories of dealers taking months to do even minor repairs, I looked for an independent RV service and repair center. Found one with very good reviews in Mansfield, TX, just south of DFW area, Coach Specialist of Texas. They had fiberglass repair expertise and rather than order and wait for a new rear cap, they removed and repaired my existing one. They took the trailer, worked the estimate, submitted to my insurance, got approval, and completed the repairs all in 3 weeks. And that included spanning a July 4th holiday when they closed for 3 days. Came out looking good as new.

I'd say $4,500-$6,500. Hope you have a low deductible.

That kind of damage can easily run into the thousands, and someone I know had a similar thing happen and it cost over $10k. Sounds like an insurance claim. The challenge is finding a reputable shop to fix it especially if the frame is bent. Good luck.
