Vinegar works

After 4-1/2 years of constant use, our kitchen faucet had mineral deposits showing from under the lever. It was getting ugly, so it was time to do something or get a new one. I didn't want to spend the money for a new one. Attempting to clean it was a better or at least cheaper option.

Got out the vinegar and poured the lever full of it after I loosen the set screw and took it off. It was set aside for the soaking and the vinegar did its work. It bubbled and foamed and removed the deposits.

Now for the deposits on the fixture. Wiped it down with vinegar and waited a bit, then took a wet pumice stick and gently scrubbed the metal surfaces. A little work to clean the cracks and crevices made it look like new. Put the handle on and tightened the set screw and all done.

If you want to do this and can't find the set screw, it is under the little blue/red plug in the on/off lever. Mine takes a 1/8" Allen wrench.
