Dump tank valves

I have a 2003 Montana 3566fl 5ver. There are 2 dump tank valves in a compartment. They are no longer labeled. Does anyone know which is the gray and which is the black? Front most or rear most? I want to open my gray valve, but don't want to dump the black tank.

Thanks

On my unit the valve towards the front is the black. Just crack one open into a bucket and see what you get. You should be able to tell the difference right away. LOL

Don't know about a 2003, but a lot of the newer units, the Black has a black T-handle, while the Gray has a gray T-handle. That would assume the pulls have been replaced.

Had three Monty's so far, but none as old as 03. On all of mine the handle on the left, toward the front of the rig, was the black tank. Also, all of mine had a third dump handle coming out of the frame either before or behind the tires. The one by the tires was for the galley tank.

Dump tank valves
Handle on the left toward the front is for the gray/bath tank, the right one is for the black tank, third/galley is behind the tires on drivers side.

There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason which is which. The simplest solution might be to use a clear 45 degree connector on your outlet and watch when dumping. You should easily be able to tell. Another option would be to put red food safe coloring in the black tank with plenty of water if you don't have anything to dump yet. That's how I plan to find where the washer is plumbed.

Your washer is a more than likely Plum din to the gray tank but you can follow the plumbing behind the basement wall and see where it goes

Thanks, beeje. I tried that but there is so much wiring and plumbing it's very hard to determine which tank it goes into. I think the gray tank is forward of the black, but I'm not completely sure. I really don't want to pull the coroplast right now if I don't need to since hunting season is almost here. I'm waiting until after the first of the year to put in our washer/dryer stackables so I don't have to know right away.

On my 2010 the black is on the left. Gallery dump is on the frame in front of the tire.

Hi on 2010 3000rk the left( front) is grey and right is black. Dump behind tires is for the galley. Seems it is just like everything else on a Keystone rig depends on who put it on which day..lol For some reason there is no consistency in any of them.

On both our 2015 MHC 305RL & our 2019 Montana 3811MS, the black tank valve is toward the front, grey toward rear. Both tanks run side by each in a longitudinal direction. Black tanks on door side, grey on ODS.

In 2003 the tanks are mounted across the frame. Usually the front one is the black tank. But there are exceptions and a FL may be one. You should be able to look in the pass through compartment and see where the toilet line comes down (and maybe even where the shower drain is too). The valves correspond to the front tank (left valve) and rear tank (right valve). Match them up with the drain pipes and you should be able to figure out which is which. It would be nice if one of the 2003 FL owners would pipe up but I think that is a pretty rare model today.

2008, 3500RL.
The front handle is black. The rear is gray. Can't find a galley tank dump even though panel inside lists gray and galley separately. Could just be a standard panel.

Not exactly sure where it is on your model but it is definitely somewhere around the driver side Wheels could be in the front in the middle or the rear coming through the frame

As stated above, get and bucket and pull one! Then you'll know.

Yes it is a standard panel because there is a separate galley tank. You have to look along the frame on the driver's side to find the handle or the hole through the frame where the handle should be. Handles have been known to fall off so it may be hard to find the access point. But it is there. Dropping the coroplast is a surefire method of finding the valve but may be more work than you (or me) want to do.

On my 2005 2955 RL my galley tank valve is in front of the left front tire just below the frame.
