Can't get steps down 3665re 5th wheel
Hey all,
Last June my sister put the steps up on the 5th wheel as no one was going to be using it for a while, but I can't get them to come down I've tried looking up videos Etc which show just lifting up on the top step and then pulling straight out my steps don't look like that they are original to the fifth wheel 3665re. Can anyone help?? Thanks in advance

Maddie - if the steps have not moved since June - you might try spraying some silicone on the hinge points to see if you can break it free. You did not say what year model your unit is - but I assume it has steps similar to the screen shot below with more steps that what is shown. The red arrows point to the spots I would hit with silicone.

Can you post a picture of what your steps look like ?
Mine should be similar since our camper is a 2011.

Screen shot from a YouTube sales video for a 2008 3661RL…looks like it has 3 steps instead of 2 (like my previous screen shot). The lube points should be the same. If it still won’t move I would try tapping the front edge of each step with a hammer to jar the rusted spots loose…TAP not clobber!
Also I don’t think the steps pull straight out like a kitchen drawer…you need to lift up and out. Red arrows point to lube spots.

Looks like ours.
You should be able to pull out on that horizontal bar in the middle.

Spray the joints with some WD40, let sit and try again.

I've always used penetrating oil on the pivot points. It works great.

We had the same problem with the stairs on my son’s RV after it sat over the winter. We sprayed it heavy with WD40 and let it sit a bit then used a rubber mallet to convince them to open up. It worked.

JB Blaster works much better on rust than WD 40. Just speaking from experience. Grew up working on cars and trucks in the rust belt.
