Severe Cold
Sparta Wisconsin - Whiskey Creek RV Resort
-18 with a -36-degree wind chill and my Monty was cozy toasty 75 degrees! I'm pretty happy at how well she did. Nearly an 80-degree difference from outside to inside.

That's good news. How much propane did you use?

Glad you're doing well in the challenging weather. Glad to hear your Montana is doing well also. ..... really glad to hear that!
I'm in Louisiana, got out of Indiana to escape the cold this year. But I didn't expect a winter snap to hit. It's been cold for a while here and I'm delighted my Montana has done so well. Actually, this is the best year, and we've done our share of cold weather camping. The furnace is set at 69 degrees and we are running the fire place in the front of the camper (living room) and a ceramic heater in the rear bedroom. We're running through one thirty pound propane tank ever 3 days. The outside temps have been running between 15 degrees to 33 degrees (right now, it's warmed back up to 42)
I think there are 2 factors that has improved our success this year, even though we weren't suppose to be in this cold of weather. 1) a few years ago I sealed the underbelly, plugged all the holes in the underside of the camper. It was a pain staking endeavor, but it was done in the warmth of the Summer and done over several days. I'm reaping the benefits of about 20 tubes of Liquid Nails calking and about 10 cans of "Foamy Stuff" insulation.
I think the second contributing factor is the fact we are located in such a spot that we don't get direct wind. We are surrounded by hundred foot pine and Oak trees, and a forest of bamboo on 3 sides. The 4th side is blocked, not only by the trees and bamboo, but also a fairly large (long) building, blocking all wind from that direction.
Remove the wind and the cold is more tolerable.
I've never used my Montana with the temps below zero. So, it's good to know that it is possible, if that ever happens.
Thanks for sharing! Enjoy your winter wonderland. Spring is just around the corner!

We had 8 degrees this morning and Thursday. One place in Virginia was -8. What the heck this is the sunny south not the frozen north land. It’s only 60 days until warmer weather. We can make it.

According to Nola.com New Orleans got as much as 10” of snow. There was even snow on the beaches of Galveston and the Florida panhandle coast.

We've been on Galveston beach for 10 days and yes there was some light snow on the beach=1/2"+/-. Bigger problem was ice on everything=gone in two days. Next 8 day forecast: Highs= 50s/low 60s & lows 40s/low 50s with quite a bit of rain forecasted. Never been here in winter before; headed back to PHX next winter.

Forgot to mention: winds were high gusting 36 mph and RV park shut off water for two days; but, gave us notice to fill tanks before shutting down.

When ships had cannons the cannon balls were stored in a brass crate called a monkey. They were stacked as high as you could get them. In reality cold weather the brass would shrink and some of the cannon balls would fall off hence “It’s cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey”.
I just read that I guess it’s true. Interesting anyway.

It's been a long long time since I posted and now I'm RV-less but here is my two cents on staying warm or staying cool.
Line every cabinet and opening that has an outside wall exposed with Reflective Bubble Insulation foil (Lowes, Home Depot, etc. In the Summer it will reduce the inside heat by severl degres and in the winter keep warmer, easier.
