Well it’s been 36 hrs since we got our shot. My wife had a slight headache but it went away. Our arms were sore but nothing you can’t stand. Our biggest concern was my wife’s allergies and immune system. They weren’t going to give th shot to her but she had to talk to a nurse on the phone. She recommended checking with her doctor, but we already had and he said to definitely get it. If you have a chance to take it I suggest to do it. It’s not going to kill you, or spend the rest of your life like an ostrich. Rich, are you coming to Florida at all this year.

hey it is not the first shot that gets you it is the second one. If your wife had a headache from the first she may get a migraine after the second. I am not trying to discourage, just giving a heads up of what I have read to expect.

My wife has an autoimmune disease and she has a Dr Appointment Wednesday. Before she gets the vaccine w2e want to make sure it is safe for her.

When someone gets their shot let us know how it went. That way the rest of us will know what to expect.

Going to wait a little while til they get the system working better. Depending on which vaccine, you are supposed to get the second shot either 3 weeks or 4 weeks after the first. But around here it is still difficult to get the first one. And then hard to get the second in the 3 to 4 week time frame. Haven't heard anyone say what the consequences are if you can't get the 2nd within some defined amount of late time.

Bill the way I understand it is the first shot will give 70 or 80% immunity the second shot ups that to 95%. They don’t know how long the immunity will last with one shot but it’s not as long as with two shots. England is discussing only giving one shot now to stretch supplies and the second sometime later. The drug companies are discouraging this because that hasn’t gone through trails.

My wife and I got the Moderna (sp?) shot this morning--first one, of course. Will get the second in 4 weeks. The appointment and procedure in Tyler, Texas was first rate. Everyone was helpful and friendly and it was all done, including the 15 minute wait after the shot, in less than an hour.

My wife and I will definitely get our vaccine as soon as we are allowed to. We will get it to protect us and our family and for the general population. For this vaccination program to beat back this Corona Virus threat there has to be a majority of the population vaccinated to stem the spread.

It is a personal choice whether you feel comfortable to get it but please consider others around you in that decision.

I lost a good friend to the virus this week. If he had been able to get the vaccination I could look forward to seeing him again. Sadly not going to happen.

Sorry about your friend. You never know who will have a very mild case and who will have a very bad case.
We lost a friend’s wife last week. Piggy Wells wife. Piggy as the name suggest is what I call an American original. There aren’t many of them cherish them.
Stay safe as you can.

Ok GP directed us to her Rheumatologist. Answer was he is recommending all get the vaccine with the exceptions based on the medications you are taking for Rheumatoid Arthritis

I work in a hospital and have received both doses of Moderna and am here to tell you the facts. Some have a reaction (1st dose mild) and some have no reaction at all. I had no reaction to the first shot, The second shot was different. About 12hrs. after the shot I felt tired to the core. That night I had a fever and body aches. By noon I was completely over it. I work in a department with 12 others. And as stated in the beginning some had a reaction others (like me ) only to the second dose and others had no reaction at all. There seems to be no correlation to age or body type as we pretty much have them all.

Do some or most have a reaction to both of the vaccines?
Is the reaction the same for both vaccines?
Thanks Lynwood

Back in Nov I responded to this post and said I was going to wait a while. I have since changed my mind as people who've been vaccinated don't appear to be growing second heads or otherwise mutating, at least according to the sources I've researched. Plus, my DW won't let me go back to karaoke until I'm fully vaccinated.

While we understand there could be long-term issues, at 72 years of age and with only a couple of moderate age-related health issues, DW and I got the Pfizer first shot a couple of weeks ago. No reactions at all, and we're mentally prepared for possible second shot reactions.

Cindy and I get the second Moderna vaccination next Wednesday at 12:35 and 40. We got the first one on Feb 10th. A week after that I will feel comfortable going to outside restaurants and other spaced out events. We are hitting the road with a circle of the West Coast for 6 months on April 23rd. The only place I am a little nervous about is three weeks in California. The rules seem to keep changing there.

Had the first Moderna shot on 11 Feb at about 1:00PM Within a couple hours felt crummy. By 9:00PM it was like a switch was flipped and it all went away. Sore arm - for sure, but do recall those military-stand-in-line for a half dozen and the work related for international travel and these were not a big deal. Second shot on 11 March and hoping for nothing more.

Moderna has been supplied locally with a pretty large gauge needle which I have been told is part of the sore arm situation. Maybe (hopefully!!) that has been corrected with the smaller size jabber

Sister in law got her second Moderna shot a week ago. A reaction to the first, she expected to be laid up for a couple days. No reaction at all except a slightly sore arm. Her daughter (our niece) had a nasty reaction (Pfizer) but she has some health issues.

Got our second moderna shots today. I had a rash around the shot area for a few days on the first. Wife didn't have any reactions.

To me it looks like if you wish to control the spread of this disease they are giving the shots to the wrong group of people. We the old ones get the shot but we are the group most likely to wear a mask and do what is required to stay safe. The younger crowd going to the bars and parties are the ones spreading the virus. I’m still going to get my shot Wednesday.
