Axel Question

We are looking at purchasing a Montana 3931FB (bath and half) and it shows 16,500 GVW with Hitch of 2,530 which we calculate to be 13,970 pounds on two 7K pound axels. If we figured right, seems close to limits. Has anyone had any axel problems. Will appreciate any input.
Also, is there a way to search for previous posts on this forum regarding axels?
We are new to this forum and to fifth wheels - coming from motor home.
THANKS

You really won't know how much weight will be on the hitch until you have the rig loaded for travel. 2530 lbs seems low for a rig this size, and it may just be a guess or the weight on an empty dry rig. At least they are putting G rated tires on them now. When doing a search, be sure you use 'axles' when searching. Welcome to the forum, you will find more information here than most any dealer or even the manufacturer can or will provide.

As you load up your Pin weight will increase. Most of your pass though storage becomes pin weight.

And Like Bob says hitting the scales is the best way to know.

Congratulations and Welcome to the Forum

I never trust mfg's published weights EXCEPT the gross. Your pin will be approx 20% actually and if you stay under gross your axles will also be under. Scale your unit after loaded for travel to be sure.
