Tiny House Montana Conversion

I didn't do this conversion but thought others on the forum might enjoy the pictures.

Nice, but just like the show about Tiny Homes, I think they should just buy a trailer, since they that's what many of them are...Tiny Homes. Some of those homes I see weigh too much and don't have enough room. Trailers with slideouts have been around a lot longer with greater success and not so much high dollar customization.

That is a good looking rig, and it's still a trailer.

I would take this over the ones seen on TV shows anytime. But it actually is not a "build" but a "remodel". Looks nice to me.

Looks like they used a lot of paint, both inside and out. I like the idea of the marine paint on the outside though. Our decals aren't ready to be removed just yet, but might be in a couple of years - Might just go with white marine paint if Keystone want's to charge money for new ones.

Nice, but looks a little heavier than the original build.

I'm with you. I have never understood why folks will go through the gyrations to build a tiny house, when they could just go buy a 5th wheel and be done with it.

I would have loved to have seen the retrofit/remodel - and count me as another who doesn't get all the fuss over Tiny Houses - especially the ones on wheels?!

I mean, I get the ones that are larger (800 to 900 sq/ft), with fixed-foundations. Those are truly "Tiny Houses" and the features are more home-like - but to me - the show completely ignores RV's - which is obviously from where they are drawing a lot of their space-saving concepts in the first place. Many current RV's are even MUCH more affordable than having someone create you a custom "one-off" - and if you're going to a builder who specializes in building tiny mobile home construction on wheeled-trailer frames...you're likely going to get a "model" that particular "custom builder" to hold costs down...which is actually a semi-custom RV builder...and there's NO WAY that is more affordable than an RV!?

Plus - the interior and layout of our newly purchased (but lightly used - 2008) Montana is like living in a home! It's completely self-contained - and probably due to the slide outs - is NOT a the typical in-line construction used in their "Tiny Houses".

It also doesn't look like you're carrying a mobile chapel, or (worse) an outhouse, down the road behind you!

I agree. A fiver is much more practical if it is to be moved. Recently followed a "tiny house" down the interstate. It was being towed by a 3/4 ton truck and he was traveling at about 40 mph and it was swerving all over the road. He could barely hold it in his lane.

Now let me think in a tiny house you get a tin tub a tiny refrigerator maybe a couch to set on and a bed room loft you use a latter to get up to that can't set up in and in a camper you get, no need to go into that. O well.
